In These Times...
Stay calm when things get dirty. When dealing with someone who is being totally unreasonable, do not go to their level. You don’t want to give them evidence that you can also be a jerk.

Use the 10 second rule. Don’t say anything. Once you say something you cannot take It back.

It’s all about picking your fights. Fight the urge to fight, verbally or physically. Psychologically is fine.

An over-response is always a mistake.

Anyone can win if they are willing to win at the cost of love and respect.

First, shut up.
Second, think about what’s causing the other person to beg a win a way that you can stand.
Thirdly, respond intelligently.

Training Off Season
There are many athletes who train without intensity and consistency during the off season; then decide 2 or 3 weeks before season to train like a maniac, thinking they’re going to have mass gains. Wrong! Wrong! Wrong!
So train all year long, so you’ll always be ready for your sport.
Do you want to have energy through the whole game or through only half of it? Do your cardio all year long!

Sunday morning, before watching our online worship service, I wrote down my feelings about what’s happening.

Black, Brown, Red, White, Yellow... whether gay, straight or whatever lifestyle you choose...Rich, poor, middle - whatever- we are all children of God/Jesus and living in the greatest country in the world- America.

None of us is perfect, so why not live our lives by first following God’s laws and then follow the laws of a free government in this great country in which we live.

Thank you, Pastor Vidalis, of First Church of Coral Springs, United Methodist, for your spiritual inspiration.

Our Father God expects us to behave by accepting our brothers and sisters with understanding and love.

For now, my heart is aching for those who are suffering from all that has happened this year. Pray, that all will end soon—- that we will not have a “new normal” but a better country of understanding and a real love for each other.

Work the heart. Find 30 minutes a day for a brisk walk, even if it’s inside your home or condo. Regular moderate movement can show reversal of arterial stiffening- which occurs with age-and lowers risk of cardiovascular disease. Studies show even a little bit every day has benefit.

Good Mornings- exercise for your lower back, strengthens and enhances balance. Do these in the shower with hot water run...

Good Mornings- exercise for your lower back, strengthens and enhances balance.
Do these in the shower with hot water running on your back with arms crossed on your chest. No barbell. Bend over with your head up as pictured, until your back tells you to stop. Inhale as you go down, exhale on the way up. Do 3 sets of 6 to 8 repetitions.
For the 60+ body- If you cannot do this standing up:
Sit in a chair, legs bent at 90 degrees as shoulder width apart. Back straight, arms crossed on chest. Looking up (like you’re looking in a mirror) lean forward, half the distance to your thighs. Inhale as you go forward, exhale coming up. Repeat 5 times, then stand up.
Do these exercises once a day for a week to 10 days seated, then attempt standing using a rail or wall in the shower.

optimize stability along with mobility and increase quality of life and balance.......all of which will result in increased performance.

Let's talk about piriformis syndrome. Try this first.
Sit on a chair/bench with leg crossed (ankle over knee).
Check that the foot on the floor is 90 degrees under knee. Place one hand on knee, one on ankle.
With your torso.....neck and back stiff as a board...and looking straight ahead like youre
looking into a mirror, lean forward slowly!
When you feel the muscle, stop, and then gently press down on your knee. Hold for 45 seconds.
Do the other knee immediately.

TODAY, LET'S TALK ABOUT SHOULDER PROBLEMS. 90% OF ALL ROTATOR CUFF INJURIES (WHICH CAUSE SHOULDER PAIN) AFFECT MUSCLES AND TENDONS.

OK....Lets see who's at risk?
All athletes, i.e. golfers, weightlifters, swimmers, baseball, softball players.....and yes, non-athletes......
women who carry heavy purses and babies, those who carry those backpacks etc. etc.....Anyone who does repetitive motions. It's a big list.

Now let's talk about prevention to help you stay away from therapists like us.

Try this FIRST:
This may help:
1. Reduction of Inflammation and pain.
2. Restoration of normal range of motion.
(Examples: Putting on a shirt, hooking your bra,
scratching your back......everything we do daily.

DO THIS FIRST.
IF IT WORKS, GREAT.

NEVER too old to start exercising!
Staying in shape in your 50's and beyond can slow up the process of disease and definitely improve the quality of life into the 80's and hopefully longer.

Studies have shown that those who exercise in their later years, even if they've never exercised before, can slow down and even prevent many disorders that contribute to "old age".

You don't have to work out like a jock to get results....just increased activity in small amounts.... walk 3 days a week if only for 2 blocks. Start a light daily program; put it into your life like brushing your teeth, and remember...."Life is movement and without movement there is no life!"

So keep on moving!
