This week in Teacher Training at YOUniversal Yoga had range đŸ‘đŸ”„

From stepping into the seat of the teacher (huge shoutout to our trainee for confidently guiding Part 1 + half of Part 2 of their class đŸ’«), to diving into our Asana Lab—exploring the strength and structure of Triangle and Pyramid, and the focus + grace of balancing poses like Eagle, Tree, and Dancer
it was a full, embodied experience.

We layered in philosophy too—getting to know the Gunas (because sometimes you’re feeling sattvic and serene
and sometimes tamasic like “please don’t make me do one more chaturanga” 😅).

And in true yogi fashion, we slowed it all down with alternate nostril breathing and silent meditation
creating space not just in the body, but in the mind.

✹ Theme of the week: Saucha — cleanliness, clarity, and clearing out what we don’t need.

Because let’s be honest
clutter isn’t just that drawer you avoid opening—it’s the old thoughts, the overpacked schedules, and yes
maybe even that 17th pair of yoga leggings we definitely needed at the time 😂

The more we clear out, the more clearly we can show up—on the mat, as teachers, and in life.

Less clutter. More clarity. More YOU.

04/13/2026

Today’s theme is Saucha — cleanliness, clarity, and purification
but not just in the obvious “wipe down your mat” kind of way (although yes, please still do that 😄).

Saucha invites us to look at what we’re holding onto—physically, mentally, emotionally.

Because clutter
 isn’t just stuff.
Clutter is stuff with a story.

That old shirt? A version of you.
That thought? A replay you’ve kept on loop.
That tension in your shoulders? Something you haven’t quite set down yet.

And here’s the twist—
Everything we own
 we know
 owns us a little back.

Some things represent hope for the future.
Some things are us clinging to the past.
And all of it? It takes up space.

So today, this practice becomes a gentle clearing.
Not forcing anything out
just noticing what we can soften, release, or rinse clean.

Each exhale is a sweep—clearing mental clutter
‱ Each drop of sweat is a release—like the body wringing itself out
‱ Each transition is a choice—do I carry this forward
 or let it go?

“Can I move with less?”
Less gripping.
Less overthinking.
Less holding on.

Because when we create space
something else has room to arrive.

Notice now—after the effort, after the heat—
there’s a little more space.

Maybe in the breath.
Maybe in the body.
Maybe even in the mind.

Saucha reminds us:
We don’t need to add more to feel better.
Sometimes we just need to clear what’s in the way.

Today in Teacher Training, we moved through the fire and focus of Chair Pose, the steadiness of Warrior II, the grace of Peaceful Warrior, and the depth of Side Angle, exploring what happens when strength meets awareness.

We took it to the wall (because
balance is optional, support is smart 😉), using props to refine, realign, and redefine what effort really looks like.

And in between the movement?
Our trainees found their voices, practicing cueing, stumbling a little, learning a lot, and rising stronger each round.

✹ Theme of the day: Brahmacharya - the art of right use of energy.

Not burnout.
Not overdoing.
Not “go harder.”

But
 go smarter.

A gentle reminder:
Just because you can go to 100%
 doesn’t mean you need to.

Save a little spark.
Savor the slow burn.
That’s where the magic (and longevity) lives.

And let’s be honest-
Chair Pose will humble you either way đŸ˜…đŸ”„

Today in YTT we stepped into the power of lunges đŸ”„

Not just as shapes, but as teachers.

We explored stability, strength, and the quiet conversation between effort and ease. Front body opening, back body strength
learning how to ground down while reaching forward.

Woven through the practice was Satya (truthfulness) and Asteya (non-stealing)-a reminder to be honest about where we are, and to not take more than what’s ours to give.

In each lunge, we practiced telling the truth:honoring our edge without pushing past it
and not stealing from our future selves by forcing the moment.

Lunges asked us to stay present-to feel the wobble,to refine alignment, and to trust the process.

Because sometimes truth looks like shaking legs and steady breath.

Strong legs, open hearts, and a community rooted in honesty, balance, and enoughness 💜

Cacao, Sound & Somatic Journey with Amy Shine

2.5 hours · $60 · Limited to 10 people · Book in advance to reserve your space

What is this journey?

An intimate, guided experience to slow down, arrive in your body and be deeply restored. Ceremonial cacao, aromatic oils, breathwork, somatic movement and sound healing journey with hands-on somatic energy touch.

No experience necessary. Just show up and receive.

What unfolds?

~We open with a cacao ceremony and shared circle- setting intentions and arriving together.

~ Amy guides a somatic drop-in using aromatherapy, gentle breathwork and slow movement to help you settle into presence. (approx. 30 mins)

~ The heart of the experience is a 75-minute sound journey- lying down, eyes closed, guided into a deep inner journey as brainwave patterns shift and the body softens and restores.

~ Throughout, Amy offers somatic energy healing touch- gentle, intentional hands-on support to deepen your journey.

Every session is alive and unique. No two are ever the same.

About ceremonial cacao

Pure ceremonial cacao is a traditional Mayan plant medicine used for centuries to open the heart and deepen awareness. It is not psychoactive.

Made from whole cacao beans without the additives of everyday chocolate, it works gently:
lifting mood, clearing mental fog, deepening body connection and supporting a more open, receptive state for inner work.

Drinking cacao is always optional.

What people say

“I never knew so much could happen in one session. I went through lifetimes of stuff. This was the most powerful energy work I’ve experienced yet.” — Cindy D.

Day 2 of YTT 💜

We explored Ahimsa - the practice of kindness. Kindness in our words, our teaching, and especially toward ourselves.

Sometimes the most powerful form of ahimsa
is simply not forcing or judging ourselves.

We began the day practicing beginner Hatha–Vinyasa with our community, experiencing firsthand how a gentle, supportive flow can welcome every body to the mat.

In training, our pose focus included High Plank, Downward Facing Dog, and the Cobra series, exploring the transitions of the vinyasa while learning how to guide students with awareness and care.

A good reminder: practicing kindness doesn’t mean everything is easy
sometimes it just means holding your plank and breathing through it.

Ahimsa reminds us that strength and kindness can exist together.

Because growth often looks like staying steady, softening the edges, and choosing compassion anyway.

“We don’t need the world to get their act together or circumstances to be perfect in order to practice more kindness.

If that were the case, we’d all be waiting forever..

the truth is- that other people’s behavior is not our permission slip to be at peace. And not our assignment.

If we could control other people’s actions like we were writing a movie script-yeah, life would be easier but than where would there be the evolving, the growth, the wisdom? Or, The hilarious stories we tell our friends later?“
- shared via with

So how are you willing to practice kindness with yourself today?

And, How could you share some simple kindnesses with the world?

Inspiration from tonight’s hot vinyasa class:

Wisdom begins when we get curious instead of defensive.

Tonight’s practice isn’t about seeing the whole picture-it’s about noticing where you’re standing.

Same room, same heat, same sequence
 wildly different experiences.

Can you stay strong and spacious? Effort without attachment

Thank you for showing up exactly as you are. We’re all touching different parts of the same experience, and every perspective is valid.

Carry this with you: be gentle with your view, and stay open to more.

There’s a simple story about a monk who kept a small bowl by the door of his hut.

Each evening before going to sleep, he would place one small stone in the bowl for every act of kindness he had shown that day.

Some nights the bowl filled with stones.

Other nights
 it stayed nearly empty.

One day a young student asked him,

“Why do you do this?”

The monk smiled and said,

“Because it reminds me that kindness is something we must practice
 not just preach.”

The student thought for a moment and asked,

“But what about the days when the bowl is empty?”

The monk replied,

“Those are the most important days

because they remind me to start again tomorrow.”

The beautiful part of yoga is that every breath is another chance to start again.
