Heart full of gratitude and feeling energized! The annual facilitator retreat is always an incredible way to recenter and reconnect. I am so grateful for this incredible community; it’s truly like no other!

The alliance fosters a community of compassion, acceptance, hope for recovery and celebration for diversity. As alliance facilitators, we share this perspective and we foster us within our community as well as with the folks with eating disorders we are here to support.

10 years ago I signed up to run an in person support group for the Alliance, when it was just local to South Florida. Today the Alliance supports folks not only across the US but around the whole world! πŸ’™πŸŒŽ I am so grateful to be part of these efforts and I believe that together we can truly make a difference.

Today’s food exposure brought to you by ! 😍 yum! 🌟 Let’s chat about the power of food exposures in treating OCD and eating disorders. As a clinician, I feel very lucky to share this space with my clients. Oftentimes OCD and EDs rules can take away the enjoyment of the foods we once loved. Eating can become stressful and frustrating when one is trying to appease OCD and/or the ED. It can feel so scary to go against these rules, make a mistake, eat the wrong thing or eat the wrong amount. But recovery is about finding flexibility and freedom. Recovery is about building a peaceful relationship with food. Here is how ERP can help our clients in this process.
✨1.Tackling Fears: Gradually facing those dreaded foods can really help overcome anxiety and make eating feel less dreadful.
✨2.Building Confidence: Helping clients confront their food fears strengthens their belief in themselves and their choices.
✨3.Getting Flexible: Food exposures encourage a more relaxed mindset, letting go of strict rules and making room for variety.
✨4.Boosting Resilience: Each small step builds up resilience, making it easier to tackle other challenges in life.
✨5.Reconnecting with Others: Sharing meals becomes more enjoyable, fostering connections with friends and family.

Remember, recovery is a journey, and every step counts. I’m here to support you! πŸ’–

I'm not great with goodbyes, but I know this is more of an "until next time."
I want to congratulate on completing her post doctoral residency with us at CHI. It's incredible to think that Dr. Brooks was such an integral part of CHI from the start. Her passion for her work, her willingness to learn, her commitment to her clients and her role at CHI made her an incredible fellow throughout her residency. I want to thank Katharine for entrusting me with her training, for her patience as we navigated the difficult times and her big heart in celebrating our achievements together. I know we both grew very much over the past couple of years. I am so proud to see the clinician she has become and I have all my faith in her that she will defeat the EPPP! Can't wait to see what is next for you! Lots of love, Katharine!
