New research confirms what so many of us already suspected — women who have doula support during birth experience better mental health outcomes.

As Doulas, lactation consultants, and birth workers — you are often the first to see a woman who is quietly strugglingšŸ’›

šŸ¤When we work together and keep the whole woman in mind, we close the gaps that put moms at risk.

I’m thinking about the pregnant mother too afraid to go to her prenatal appointment.
The parent whose nervous system is so activated, they can’t regulate their own emotions, let alone co-regulate with their child.
The kids kept home from school because it feels safer to stay together.

Each of these responses makes sense as survival. But they also become the conditions in which the next generation develops, which is why we must pay attention to intergenerational trauma.

It’s all heavy. It’s all connected. šŸ¤
Yes, it’s all ā€˜politcal’.

Come see me in this beautiful office spacešŸ’™šŸ©µ

Telehealth is wonderful, but there’s something about connecting 1:1 in a space designed just for you.
Here, you can:
- Step away from daily distractions and truly focus on yourself
- Experience the healing power of simply being seen and heard in the same room
-Notice body language, energy, and connection in ways a screen can’t quite capture (this is especially helpful for trauma work)
-And probably my favorite: Leave the work in the therapy room - difficult feelings, memories, and experiences will stay until you’re ready to return to them

Individuals, couples, and babies welcome šŸ’«

Last week I had the opportunity to attend the Florida Maternal Mental Health Collaborative’s 10th annual conference at FSU. It was truly inspiring to hear from Dr. Kay Roussos-Ross (UF) and Dr. Emily Miller (Brown University)! Their perinatal programs and research are bridging the gap between medical professionals and mental health services. šŸ©µšŸ¤

I was especially encouraged by the ongoing research and community partnerships across Florida dedicated to supporting healthy parent-child relationships. šŸ§‘ā€šŸ§‘ā€šŸ§’ā€šŸ§’

They recognize that: āœ…early identification of maternal mental health needs = āœ…better long term outcomes for children and families.
