Separating speculation from science is critical in advancing patient care. Let's examine the facts surrounding transperineal prostate biopsies with TP Pivot Pro™. 🔍

❌ Myth: A transre**al biopsy is the only way to diagnose prostate cancer.

✅ Fact: The transre**al approach, while traditionally common for diagnosing prostate cancer, is not the only method available - the transperineal approach has actually emerged as a alternative approach.

Unlike the transre**al method, which involves passing a biopsy needle through the re**al wall and being exposed to re**al bacteria, the transperineal approach involves accessing the prostate through the perineum, reducing the risk of infection. 📉

Additionally, the transperineal method allows for improved sampling of the anterior prostate, an area that can be more difficult to access with transre**al biopsy approaches.

Myth: The transre**al approach is the only way to do prostate biopsies and provides the most reliable diagnostic results.

Fact: The transperineal approach, offers better access to anterior and apical lesions, and been shown to reduce fever and sepsis rates compared with transre**al biopsy approaches.

🗓️ Big changes are now in effect for prostate biopsy coding, including discontinuation of the previous catch-all CPT code 55700.

The new reimbursement structure more significantly supports the transperineal (TP) approach, creating separate codes for TP biopsies vs. transre**al and adjusting reimbursement rates.

Beyond the new financial benefits, the TP prostate biopsy approach offers major clinical advantages:

⬇️ Drastically lower risk of infection and sepsis.
🎯 Improved sampling of all prostate zones for more accurate diagnostics.
