Counseling and Wellness, LLC Counseling and Wellness, LLC provides psychotherapy to people who wish to create a rich and meaningful lives.

I enjoy helping clients create rich and meaningful lives. I specialize in individual therapy with adults and adolescents struggling with anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma, eating disorders, adjustments to life stressors, and more. I primarily use the Acceptance Commitment Therapy Model with my clients, an evidence-based model that blends cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness techniques. I use a strengths-based perspective to collaborate with clients to set goals in line with their values. I have a Master's degree from the University of Iowa School of Social Work (2004) and an MFA from the Iowa Writers' Workshop (2016). I've worked as a social worker in Iowa for nine years, and served on faculty at the University of Iowa (2014-2017).

Other tips to help manage COVID-19 anxiety:
· limit news to 15 or 20 min, don't scroll social media mindlessly
· sleep and eat well to keep your immunity
· engage in 30 min of exercise 3 X each week to manage stress
· send care packages or do something nice for someone else
· keep perspective, this virus outbreak will not last forever
· social distance doesn't mean psychological distance— stay in touch with people you care about by phone or other technologies
· watch shows that are distracting and make you laugh, humor is a good antidote for fear
