Winter can feel quieter… but inside Better Days, our memory care neighborhoods are alive with small rituals that create comfort and connection.
Today our residents helped make warm cinnamon sachets for their rooms—tiny treasures that spark memory, soothe anxiety, and bring a little magic to the colder days.
It’s amazing how the scent of cinnamon or clove can open the door to a moment of joy.
This is what Better Days is all about: meeting people where they are, creating purpose, and warming winter from the inside out.

Brown Deer Place already made a new friend in 2026! 🥳As we look at how we can Expect Better Beginnings, we invite the opportunity to find new ways to stay physically fit!
Jake is a DPT that operates right around the corner from our front door! He began his endeavors after seeing the struggles his own grandma faced with losing muscle mass as she aged into her ✨golden era of life!
Age On is his way of combating the negative effects of aging with limited mobility. A gym and an exercise program tailored to each persons concerns or limitations, mixed with fun, humor, and an engaging environment - these are his key points that we really latched onto as we learned more about how Jake can improve our purpose driven programs at Brown Deer Place!
We look forward to our first classes with him, as well as getting to go out and explore the gym that he has curated specifically for people JUST LIKE US!

Our residents spent the morning creating Moments of Joy — sharing stories of childhood winters, favorite holiday treats, and the little things that still make their hearts sparkle.

Brown Deer Place was honored to participate in Toys for Tots this year, collecting donations from our residents, families, and health care partners to help children in need.

When I delivered our donations, I had the wonderful surprise of seeing Becky Leaven, the daughter of one of our Memory Care residents, Mary Pottorff, volunteering among the many caring helpers. It was a special reminder of how connected our Brown Deer Place family is, both inside and outside our community.

We’re grateful for volunteers like Becky, whose kindness and generosity truly make a difference during the holiday season.

Thank you to everyone who contributed—together, we helped spread joy and brighten the lives of local children.
