Karen Gehring LMT

Karen Gehring LMT Karen Gehring, LMT, practicing at 937 Beaver Grade Road, Moon Township, Pennsylvania. I am also a member of the American Massage Therapy Association.

My name is Karen Gehring and I am Licensed Massage Therapist, and a graduate of The Pittsburgh School of Massage Therapy. Now, I am practicing at 937 Beaver Grade Road in Moon Township! Massage therapy is a natural way to de-stress, find relief from pain without using pain killers, and provide the preventive care to keep your body well-maintained and healthy. Massage also helps support and boost the body's many systems which helps us to live healthier lives. Your body works hard for you everyday, so let's make sure you take care of it and keep it in the best possible shape. I am available to perform Swedish, Deep Tissue, Pregnancy and Sports Massage. With my knowledge and training I am able to combine different techniques from each specific massage, such as stretching, myofascial and trigger point release, to meet your body's needs. It is rewarding for me to help people with stress management, pain relief, and relaxation using different tools and modalities. I have focused my continuing education on myofascial release, neck therapy and isolated stretching to expand my knowledge and understanding of how the body works. I have enjoyed bringing this experience to my many clients and hope to have the opportunity to serve many more from my new location in Moon Township!

We’re so glad you’re choosing to be on our table! Here’s a quick guide to help you feel comfortable & confident for your first visit:

🌿Appointment Only
We are by appointment only. You can find the link to book on our page or website. Please be sure to fill out the intake form that is emailed to you before your session. This helps us tailor your massage to your specific needs.

🌿Arrival
Give yourself a few extra minutes to arrive early, use the restroom and we’ll meet you up front in the waiting area.

🌿Before the Massage
We’ll head over to the room & your massage therapist will chat with you about any health concerns, preferences and goals for the session. Together, we can create a plan that fits you best.

🌿Massage Time!
Once your therapist has left the room, undress to your comfort level and get under the sheet & blanket. Your therapist will knock before entering to ensure your privacy.
Throughout the massage, please don’t hesitate to let your LMT know if you’d like any adjustments, whether it’s pressure, temperature or extra bolsters for support.

Our goal is to have you feeling relaxed, cared for and refreshed ✨

Another great tip 😌 Focus on slow, deep breaths. Let your body feel heavy and melt into the table. The more you can let go and avoid holding or tensing up will help your massage therapist work more effectively.

Relaxation awaits! 🙌🏼

TAKING CARE OF YOUR BODY IS THE ONLY OPTION!

Scheduling an appointment for massage is a great way to help with injuries often involving overuse, strain, or exacerbation of existing conditions due to physical activity or improper technique. Other key motivations include stress relief, pain management, and relaxation. The benefits of massage therapy include improved sleep, enhanced mood, and increased flexibility and range of motion.
So let’s take care of ourselves because if we don’t whom will?

MASSAGE THERAPY AS A
HOLISTIC APPROACH TO CARE

Healthcare professionals recommend massage

There is significant evidence supporting the inclusion of massage therapy for many important patient health conditions, including those for chronic pain management, behavioral health treatment, rehabilitation and physical training, and acute medical conditions.

When your stress level starts to rise, it’s not uncommon for your shoulders to start rising up to meet you ears 🫣

Let’s bring some awareness to our neck & shoulders.

Take a deep breath in, and as you exhale drop your shoulders. Do this 3 or 4 times.

Next, make sure you’re tall & straight (sitting or standing). Inhale and then on the exhale tilt your head chin to chest. Use one hand on the back of your head to add a slight pressure to the stretch. Hold for a few seconds and then release. You should feel this down the back of your neck.

Then, on your next exhale, tilt your head back to your end range of motion. With your hands in a prayer 🙏🏼 form you can gently push under your chin for an added stretch. Again, hold it for just a few seconds and return to neutral position.

Add in some slow head circles to the left and then to the right.

🍎Eating well can help build muscle, strengthen bones, & protect the heart. But food also plays a role in mental wellness, like sharpening your memory, helping to keep depression at bay & stave off cognitive decline. Here’s some tips we’ve found to help you eat well:
* stock up on nuts & chocolate. Nuts are an ideal combination of protein, nutrients like vitamin E, & brain friendly fats. In one small study, regular dark chocolate eaters were 70% less likely to report depression.
Stash almonds, cashews, hazelnuts, pecans, pistachios & walnuts in clear containers in the front of your pantry. Individually wrapped dark chocolate squares in a jar for a sweet snack.
* olive oil is best. It provides healthy fats & polyphenols, which is a potent reducer of brain inflammation.
Decant olive oil in a pretty ceramic or tinted glass bottle & keep it on the counter out of direct sunlight.
* pretty up your produce. If the healthy stuff is more convenient & looks enticing, you’ll be more likely to reach for it.
Wash, dry & chop veggies and place them in clear containers front & center. Place colorful fruit in bowls.

Stay tuned for more tips!

As with any therapeutic approach to pregnancy wellness, women should discuss massage with their prenatal care provider. It is important to seek care from a certified prenatal massage therapist.

One of the questions I get asked regularly is how often you should get a massage during pregnancy. In my practice, I see Mom’s to be after her 12th-week scan and recommend they receive one 4 weeks later until she delivers which will work out as about 10 massages in total – this means it can vary from person to person so there isn’t an exact answer but something like once every four or six weeks would help keep everything running smoothly without being too much!
