Every athlete is unique.
I want to flashback to the battle for the Men’s Physique Overall at in the Fall of 2023.
is someone who has great genetics for MP. He has a full chest, symmetrical abs, and a tight waist.
So when thinking about how we would peak Cam for this show - conditioning wasn’t the number one priority in this competition. A lot of the focus was on filling him out to maximize what he had to offer in making him as full as possible - especially when we thought about him competing for the overall in MP.
Jaxon is a very different build. He has a wide clavicle, he’s shoulder dominant, he has a very long torso, and his chest is admittedly one of his weaker areas.
His peak protocol was similar to that of Cams, as he also wanted to look as full as possible, but as Jaxon was also competing in Classic Physique - we had to nail conditioning to make sure he would be competitive in that class as well.
In the end, our emphasis became a bit more on his posing and presentation.
When you’re lacking in the chest - specifically in MP where that is such an important feature, you then have to find ways to give the illusion that that his is not only a weakness, but a strength.
In the NGA as they have quarter turns in their MP comparisons, this afforded us an opportunity to showcase a fuller chest by simply manipulating the pose to fit his physique.
No athlete will have the same prep.
However, that is what makes the process so fun as a coach.
Competition season is right around the corner with our first show of the year coming in less than 2 weeks - the Healthy Obsession team is excited and motivated to make even more noise this year.
