It is important to note it is highly toxic!

The rhizome tuber which is an underground stem growing horizontally that sends shoots up and roots down that contains nutrients. These are collected and sun dried for the following:

It is a perennial herb that grows in water or along the banks of streams or rivers native to Turkey, Jamaica, and the Nile River Region. It is a bitter herb with a small similar to lavender. The root, which is collected in autumn for medicinal uses, is scalded, steamed, or dried. It effects on the following systems are
🔹 Digestive to aid digestion, a carminative, anti-vomiting, and general digestive issues.
🔹 Nervous system as a sedative, nerve tonic, and anticonvulsant.
🔹 Reproductive for menstrual cramps, irregular menstruation, and contraceptive.
🔹 Anti-inflammatory and analgesic (especially pain associated with headaches and toothaches)
🔹Antioxidant, diuretic, wound healing, snake-bite treatment, anticancer and anti diabetic.

Adonis (Adonis vernalis, aka Pheasant's eye) belongs to the buttercup family. The foliage is delicate fernlike foliage and the flowers are 2-3" blooms. The aerial part has been used for its heart benefits due to its cardiac glycosides which can also make it toxic.

Some benefits include
🔹 Increase cardiac output
🔹 Decreases heart rate
🔹Tonic effect on veins
🔹Antioxidant properties
🔹Antimicrobial properties
🔹Anti-inflammatory properties

Different parts of the plant were used by Native Americans for the following;

🔹Salve or poultice from the roots for sprains, sores on the skin, rheumatism, and arthritis
🔹Plant is a sedative to induce sleep
🔹Plant infusion for diabetes
🔹Flowers can be eaten
🔹Leaves were used to make ropes, baskets, fishing nets, lines, and clothing
🔹Plant for high blood pressure and cholesterol, liver & gallbladder issues and migraine headaches
🔹Rich in antioxidants
🔹Promotes healthy gut by promoting gut flora
