💙 What a Week! 💙

Last week, we had the privilege of celebrating the incredible veterinary technicians who are the heart of everything we do at MVS. Their compassion, skill, and dedication make a difference for every patient and every client — every single day. 🐾

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make Tech Week so special — from those clients who brought treats by for our staff, to our vendors who generously contributed, to our doctors who showed their appreciation in a big way, and of course, to our entire team for the positive energy that filled the hospital all week long.

We’re grateful beyond words for our MVS technicians — not just during Tech Week, but every day of the year. 💙

Happy National Boss’s Day! 💼🐾

What better day to celebrate leadership than by welcoming our new Hospital Manager, Kelly Greenstein!

Kelly brings a lifelong passion for veterinary medicine and years of experience leading teams in both private and corporate hospitals. Her career began in equine medicine in New Jersey and Kentucky before transitioning to small animal management in 2015.

She’s passionate about creating a positive workplace culture, supporting her team, and ensuring every pet and client experience at MVS is the best it can be.

Outside of work, Kelly enjoys reading, horses, tennis, and exploring the Memphis food scene.
Please join us in giving Kelly a warm MVS welcome — we’re so excited to have her on our team! 💙

✨Honoring a legacy of skill, heart, and dedication…

For the past 16 years, Dr. Maxwell has been an integral part of our hospital family. His steady leadership, surgical expertise, and unwavering commitment to veterinary excellence have shaped MVS and inspired everyone who’s had the privilege to work alongside him.

As Dr. Maxwell opens the doors to his own surgical practice, we couldn’t be prouder. While we will miss his presence at MVS, we are truly excited to see all that he will accomplish in this next chapter. Please join us in wishing Dr. Maxwell continued success and happiness in the years ahead!

From countless surgeries to countless memories — thank you, Dr. Maxwell, for 16 years of excellence. 🐾✨

✨🩺🐾 At MVS, our veterinary technicians are the heartbeat of everything we do. They are the calm in emergencies, the comfort for anxious pets (and their people), and the skilled hands behind countless procedures and treatments.

In a single day, they can be:
🩺 a nurse, monitoring anesthesia and patient recovery
💬 a communicator, helping clients understand complex care plans
🐕 a caregiver, offering love and reassurance to a nervous patient
🧠 a problem-solver, anticipating needs before they arise
💪 and always, a teammate — lifting others up through every long shift.

Their compassion, skill, and dedication make a difference for every patient and every client, every single day.
This week, we celebrate our incredible veterinary technicians. Thank you for your knowledge, your kindness, your resilience, and your heart. MVS couldn’t do what we do without you. 💙🐾✨

These quiet hours are where teamwork, expertise, and heart shine the brightest. ✨

To our overnight and weekend teams:

The MVS team had an amazing time volunteering at the Humane Society of Memphis & Shelby County’s Vet Tech Workshops!

These workshops give middle and high school students a glimpse into the world of veterinary medicine — and we were thrilled to help inspire the next generation of animal care professionals. 🐾

Thank you to the Humane Society for the incredible work you do for pets, people, and our community! 💙

🧘‍♀️☀️ What a wonderful day at Memphis Yoga Festival!

We loved spending the day on the beautiful Rhodes College campus, soaking up the gorgeous weather and the positive energy all around. We had the privilege of connecting with so many kind people in our community who, like us, care deeply about wellness — for both people and their pets. 🐾💙

🩺 A special highlight was seeing our very own Dr. Danielle Bayliss leading a yoga class. It’s moments like these that remind us how passionate we are about supporting not only animals, but also the people who love them.

Thank you to the Memphis Yoga Festival for letting us be a part of such a meaningful event — we can’t wait to be back next year! 🙏✨

🐾 Sometimes it truly takes a village 🐾
Meet Shepherd 💙 At just 2 years old, this sweet bully mix arrived at Memphis Animal Services, withdrawn and hurting from years of painful, untreated ear infections.

Thanks to the kindness of a generous foster and benefactor, Mr. S. , Shepherd’s story took a turn. Mr. S. stepped in to make sure Shepherd received the care he so desperately needed, starting with Dr. Tracy Gullet at Northgate Animal Hospital. From there, Shepherd was referred to Memphis Veterinary Specialists, where dermatologist Dr. Tina Brown confirmed the only way to alleviate his pain, was surgery.

Under the skilled hands of our surgery team, Shepherd underwent a staged, bilateral subtotal ear canal ablation surgery (sTECA). This life-changing procedure removed the diseased part of ear canals, freeing him from the chronic infections that caused so much pain and discomfort almost immediately. These surgeries were staged meaning that one side was done on one day and a few days later the other side was performed. During Shepherd’s stay at MVS his true personality began to shine. For the first time, he allowed people to pet his face without showing signs of pain allowing him to play, trust, and soak up all the love around him.

In the most beautiful twist, one of his caretakers at North Shelby Animal Hospital fell in love with him — and gave him his forever home. Today, “Shep” is living the happy, pain-free life he always deserved. Shepherd’s journey is proof that when a community comes together, lives are transformed.

✨ Thank you to everyone who played a part in Shep’s happy ending.✨

🐾 Archie is one of Dr. Jane Ashley Huey’s adorable patients. He may only have one eye, but he’s got 20/20 vision when it comes to spotting Friday!

Most pets adjust incredibly well to having one eye. Whether due to trauma, infection, cancer, or a congenital condition, sometimes removing an eye (enucleation) is the healthiest choice for a pet. And while it may sound daunting at first, animals are wonderfully resilient.

At MVS, Dr. Huey and her team have cared for many “one-eyed wonders,” and we’re continually inspired by their courage and adaptability.

If your pet ever faces an eye condition that may require removal, know that it’s not the end of their quality of life—it’s a chance for a new, healthy beginning.

🐶🐱 Do you share your home with a one-eyed pet? We’d love to see their photos in the comments!
