Today is Donor Remembrance Day! Today is a day in which we all come together to honor and celebrate our Donor Heroes who have given the gift of life through organ, and tissue donation. We are sharing forget-me-not flowers to symbolize that donors and their legacy of generosity will always be remembered.

THE GIFT OF LIFE 💙💚

April is Donate Life Month, and this story stayed with me.

Gay Hannah was told she was just 30 minutes from death when kidney failure nearly took her life. After five years and 40 days on dialysis, she got a call just days before her 60th birthday… a kidney was waiting.

She calls it the greatest birthday gift she could have ever received. A second chance at life.

Her son told me hearing how close he came to losing his mom changed him forever. He’s an organ donor now because of it.

And it’s not just organ donation. Tissue, corneas, even skin donation can help save or improve lives.

Signing up to be a donor is simple, but these stories are a reminder of what that simple “yes” can mean to someone else.

In honor of National Donate Life Month, we are coming together with our incredible community partners, Shelby County Health Department, West TN Chapter of TUFC, Memphis City Beautiful, and Shelby Farms Park, to plant 8 trees in recognition of the gift of life and the lives impacted through organ donation.

This meaningful morning will include guest speakers, a hands-on tree planting experience, and opportunities to connect with community partners focused on health and wellness.
