Doug Jones, my stepfather, who thought most of his life that he was a full-blooded Indian, actually had a white ancestor, and is descended from one of the Englishmen who came over on the Mayflower.
Doug's parents were Eugene Jones (1909-1969) and Ella Mae Thomas (1910-1971).
Eugene Jones' parents were Arthur Owen Jones (1890-1915) and Emily Jones (1891-1918).
Arthur Owen Jones' parents were Joshua Jones Sr. (about 1859-1900) and Phoebe S. Patterson (1859-1928)
Phoebe S. Patterson's parents were William Harry Patterson (1839-?) and Leah Chew (1839-1867)
Leah Chew's parents were William Chew (1796-1857) and Eliza Thompson (?-1844)
William Chew was a Tuscarora Indian. His parents were William Johnson Chew (about 1759-?) and Margaret Mt. Pleasant, also a Tuscarora.
William Johnson Chew was an English colonist. He may have died during the bombardment of Fort George in the War of 1812. His parents were Joseph Chew (about 1725-1798) and Grace Deshon, who was born in 1735 in New London, Conn.
Joseph Chew was a military officer from Virginia who served in the Indian Department on the border area between New York State and Canada.
Grace Deshon's parents were Daniel Deshon, born in France (1697-1781) and Ruth Christophers of Conn. (1705-1775)
Ruth Christophers' parents were Richard Christophers (1662-1726) and Grace Turner (?-1734), both of Connecticut.
Grace Turner's parents were John Turner (1620-about 1696) and Mary Brewster (1627-?).
Mary Brewster's parents were Jonathan Brewster (1593-1659) and Lucretia Oldham (?-1679).
Jonathan Brewster's father was William Brewster (about 1567-1644), a Mayflower Pilgrim.
