👀 February is Eye-Opening in More Ways Than One! 👀

February isn’t just about hearts and chocolates ❤️🍫
It’s Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) & Low Vision Awareness Month and your eyes want some love too!

What’s AMD?
It’s a common eye condition in people 50+ that affects central vision, the part you use for:
📖 Reading texts
🚗 Driving
👩‍🍳 Cooking
📱 Seeing those funny memes clearly (very important)!

Signs to watch for (don’t ignore these!):
⚠️ Blurry or distorted vision
⚠️ Straight lines looking wavy
⚠️ Trouble seeing faces or fine details
⚠️ Needing more light to read

Low Vision: what does that mean?
Low vision is vision loss that can’t be fixed with glasses, contacts, or surgery; but there are tools and resources that help people stay independent and active 🙌

It’s hard to put into words how grateful we are for everyone who has stepped up during the recovery efforts here in Alcorn County.

To the first responders, linemen, road crews, medical teams, and law enforcement — thank you for working long hours in tough conditions to keep our community safe. We know the sacrifice you have made being away from your own families, and we don’t take that lightly. Your dedication means more than we can ever fully express.

To the volunteers clearing debris, delivering supplies, checking on neighbors, and offering helping hands without hesitation — you are the heart of this county.

We’ve seen churches open their doors, local businesses donate food and resources, and neighbors show up for neighbors in the most beautiful ways. In moments like this, the strength, compassion, and resilience of Alcorn County truly shines.

Recovery takes time, but knowing we have a community that cares this deeply makes all the difference. From the bottom of our hearts — thank you for showing what love in action looks like. ❤️

We’ve had a few patients ask about the forecast and our office hours, so here’s the latest:

• Current forecast: Any potential snow is projected for this weekend.
• Office hours: No impact to our office hours at this time.

That said… this is our weather we’re talking about. Around here, it can go from cozy winter coats to flip-flops and sunshine overnight. 🧥🌞🩴

🛒 Planning your milk and bread run? Here is a gentle reminder regarding any upcoming appointments.
• If you have an appointment early next week and prefer to play it extra safe, you’re welcome to reschedule for a later date. Our team will accommodate however we can.

🛡️ If the weather does take a turn for the worse, please know that the safety of our patients and staff is always our top priority. Should a closure become necessary:
• Any necessary closures will be communicated directly
• Our team will personally call each scheduled patient
• Immediate needs will be addressed
• Office visits and surgeries will be rescheduled as soon as possible
