Dolly Faye Howard (nee Crossnoe) of Hornbeak, TN passed away at home on 12 June 2025. Born on 9 May 1933 her long and bright life was filled with faith, family, friends, and flowers. She was active in the Tennessee-Western KentuckyUnited Methodist Conference as a Preacher’s Wife, as a parishioner in many church communities, and as a pillar of the Hornbeak United Methodist Church family. Whether we knew her as Dolly, Faye, Mom, Nannie/Nanny, fellow parishioner, neighbor, or friend she loved each of us as family and was looking out for us until she was called home by the Lord. The adventures and accomplishments of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren brought her terrific joy. She taught us to cook, garden, decorate for the holidays in the grandest fashion, and to take care of each other.
Dolly Faye was preceded in death by her parents, Wilson and Flossie Crossnoe; her husband Reverend W. C. Howard; her sisters (Lee, Pearline, Virginia, and Linda); her daughters Sherry Mae and Janice Lynn, and son William “Bill” Howard. She is survived by a loving family including her daughter Jane Hammond (Gerald) and sons David and Michael (Arleen); her grandchildren: Kim Wayne (Kim), Melissa (Cameron), Jennifer (Michael), Kenny, William (Susan), Regina (Dusty), and Joseph; and many cherished great, great-great grandchildren, and great-great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, who all love her dearly.
A memorial service will be held at Hornbeak United Methodist Church on July 13, 2025. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery in Trenton, TN. The family is thankful to Corinthian Funeral Home and Ret. Reverend Judd Mowery for assisting with arrangements and to the skilled and kind professionals of the Hornbeak Fire Department, Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, and Gentiva Hospice.
