Wishing everyone a “sweet” Halloween!

Spooooky pharmacy fact… a common drug that gets mistaken for M&Ms are iron tablets with their similar shape and size! Taking a large amount of these tablets can cause iron toxicity and can even be fatal in extreme cases. Be sure to keep these pills out of a child’s reach if you take them because they are especially sensitive to large amounts!

This morning, Dr. Alan Blunt, SafeGuard Mississippi Pharmacist/Trainer, shared his personal story about a direct encounter he experienced in high school as a result of opioid misuse.

Dr. Blunt’s story is very powerful and details how this encounter inspired him to become a pharmacist. He is also an Alumnus of the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy.
