🚨 Alerta de Tos Ferina (Pertussis) 🚨

Ha habido un aumento de casos de tos ferina en nuestra comunidad. La tos ferina es una infección respiratoria muy contagiosa que se transmite al toser o estornudar. La evaluación temprana es importante para protegerlo a usted y a los demás.

⚠️ Síntomas comunes de la tos ferina:
• Moco o congestión nasal
• Estornudos
• Fiebre leve
• Tos persistente que empeora con el tiempo
• Ataques severos de tos
• Sonido agudo al inhalar después de toser
• Vómito después de toser
• Dificultad para respirar
• Cansancio después de episodios de tos

👶 Los bebés pueden tener síntomas diferentes, como pausas al respirar, atragantamiento o ponerse morados/azules. Busque atención médica inmediata para bebés con síntomas.

📞 Si le han informado que estuvo expuesto(a) a la tos ferina:
• Llame a nuestra clínica para orientación y posible prueba/tratamiento
• Vigile síntomas por hasta 21 días después de la exposición
• Siga las recomendaciones si le recetan antibióticos preventivos
• Asegúrese de tener las vacunas al día

😷 Si cree que puede tener tos ferina:
• Llámenos antes de venir para orientarle de forma segura
• Use mascarilla si necesita venir a la clínica
• Evite contacto cercano con otras personas, especialmente bebés, mujeres embarazadas y adultos mayores
• Cúbrase al toser y lávese las manos con frecuencia

There has been an increase in pertussis cases in our local community. Pertussis is a highly contagious respiratory infection that spreads through coughing and sneezing. Early evaluation is important to help protect you and those around you.

Common Symptoms of Pertussis:
• Runny nose
• Sneezing
• Mild fever
• Persistent cough that worsens over time
• Severe coughing fits
• “Whooping” sound when breathing in after coughing
• Vomiting after coughing
• Trouble catching your breath
• Fatigue after coughing spells

👶 Infants may have different symptoms, such as pauses in breathing, choking, or turning blue. Seek immediate medical care for babies with symptoms.

📞 If you have been contacted and told you were exposed to pertussis:
• Call our clinic for guidance and possible testing/treatment
• Watch for symptoms for up to 21 days after exposure
• Follow recommendations for preventive antibiotics if prescribed
• Make sure vaccines are up to date

😷 If you think you may have pertussis:
• Call us before coming in so we can guide you safely
• Wear a mask if you need to come to the clinic
• Avoid close contact with others, especially babies, pregnant women, and elderly family members
• Cover your mouth when coughing and wash hands often
