➡️ No — we recommend stopping Ozempic at least 4 weeks before surgery (depending on your dose and frequency) to reduce the risk of delayed stomach emptying during anesthesia.⁠

❓Does Ozempic interfere with anesthesia?⁠
➡️ Yes. It can increase your risk of aspiration under general anesthesia because it slows digestion — even if you’ve fasted for hours. That’s why timing is everything.⁠

❓How long does Ozempic stay in your system once you stop it?⁠
➡️ The half-life of semaglutide (Ozempic) is about one week, which means it can take 4–5 weeks to fully clear — but the goal is to stop it long enough to restore normal digestion before surgery.⁠
