Why you shouldn’t return to running at 6 weeks post-partum⬇️
In the past, a guideline of 6-8 weeks was given to women for return to running after pregnancy. However, recent studies show that the soft tissues are still in the healing process at that point and far from prenatal strength. Even if everything goes smoothly during birth and you experience no tearing, the muscles are still not ready for high impact activity at 6 weeks. Yet so many women are out there running long before their bodies have recovered. Most likely women are ignoring the warning signs of not being ready and just accounting it to “I just had a baby so this is normal.”
