🗯️This is a question SLP's get all of the time! I have been asked by parents, my own doctors and random people I have met throughout my life.
The infographic above👆🏼 was made using the norms from the study done by McLeod & Crowe in 2017. They took a number of previous studies/data and combined them all to come up with these norms. By the ages listed above, 90% of children their age were producing these sounds correctly.
While these norms are helpful, it is important to know that if your child is receiving speech and language services in a school setting, they take this information into consideration but they also look at whether the error has an impact on the child's education. If it isn't, they don't often treat it, which is where I come in 😉
