My initial interest in plastic surgery came during several trips to rural Guatemala with a team of compassionate, hard-working surgeons and nurses. There I witnessed the life-altering impact of plastic surgery on individuals, families and communities. I remained inspired throughout my extensive education and countless surgeries, always striving to perfect my craft. I received my undergraduate degr

ee from Brown University with Honors in Neuroscience. There, I was captain of the Men’s Golf team, a sport that remains a passion of mine to this day. I received my medical degree (MD) from the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine, and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the Paul Merage School of Business. I completed six years of training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery with the Department of Plastic Surgery at the University of California, Irvine, undoubtedly the most comprehensive training program in the country. Over the years, I have worked determinedly to remain at the forefront of the plastic surgery field. As an innovator, I co-invented an implantable product currently used in breast reconstruction around the world. In addition to publishing extensively in the areas of breast cancer and reconstructive surgery, body contouring and facial aesthetics, I have co-authored numerous book chapters with renowned colleagues and traveled the world to lecture and collaborate. Most importantly, I have forged many meaningful bonds with my patients that continue to influence me as a doctor and surgeon.

Breast shape can change dramatically in the years following breast augmentation surgery. Contraction of the scar tissue around the implant (capsular contracture) ultimately turns a result you love into one you hate. This patient had a breast augmentation many years ago and has since experienced contracture of the scar tissue around both breast implants. The distortion of the breasts is easily seen. Removal of the scar tissue and replacement of the implants with a size more suitable to her resulted in a result that she loves. She is thrilled and so am I.

Remember, the earlier you exchange your implants, the easier the surgery and faster the recovery. It is common to put off replacement or revision surgery as many patients fear re-living the discomfort of the initial operation. Recovery from a revision surgery is straightforward and very well tolerated with minimal discomfort, if any at all. Stretching of the chest muscle was already done as a result of the first operation, eliminating a significant source of pain from any revision surgery.
