Have you heard of a New Orlean's "Jazz Funeral"?

When people die in New Orleans, they like to fill the streets with music – a celebration of the person’s life as much as a mourning of their death.

A typical jazz funeral begins at a church or funeral home and leads the way to the cemetery.

Mourners are joined by a brass band that plays music that starts off heavy and sad but soon turns celebratory. Everybody dances.

Its easy to want to shut out the painful feelings of grief, to literally close the door in its face and ignore it like an unwanted house guest.

But the issue with pushing the negative feelings down, is that they don't truly go away. The only way out, is through.

So, even though it can be hard-- and might require outside assistance to unpack the extent of the pain; share some time with it before letting it go.
