I wish we would stop repeating this myth, and oversimplifying the situation.

Today is a chill day, the weather is gloomy, and we get to chill.Sometimes we just need that.
It's about self care. Knowing when to push your limits, and when to stop..
For years, I didn't know limits existed, until my body said,

Hormones play a big role in the way our bodies behave. If you’re feeling a bit imbalanced (especially if it’s that time of the month), these oils can help support the bodily systems that influence and control hormones:

Clary Sage - Research has demonstrate that inhaling clary sage (aka salvia sclarea) can lower cortisone levels (a stress hormone) by 36% as well as improve the levels of your thyroid hormones.

Lavender - A classic. Use it to help induce sleep or calm the mind. The smell of lavender helps to whisk away stress and anxiety while helping your body rebalance emotions.

Ylang-ylang - This scent can reduce blood pressure by calming stress levels. It’s also been said to boost the libido!

Bergamot - This oil has the ability to uplift and calm simultaneously. It’s a main ingredient in many perfumes for a good reason!

Thyme - Thyme oil is well known for its ability to support a healthy immune system. Studies have also shown that it can aid in the balancing of progesterone levels.

For best results, keep these oils handy for use in baths, soaks, diffusers, or apply directly to the skin on pressure points (like your wrists and the back of your ears). You can also just keep a few bottles on your desk or in your purse to sniff and uplift on the go!

Suffering from tooth pain? Try gently swishing around a spoonful of coconut oil for up to 20 minutes - though you might have to work your way up to this as it’s quite an exercise for your jaw muscles!

Oil pulling with coconut oil has been used for centuries in India because of its ability to:

You may have seen people with perfectly circular welts on their back and wondered what happened -- it was probably cupping!

Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts cup on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. People do this for all sorts of purposes, including: pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation, and well being. It can also be thought of as a type of deep-tissue massage!

When you have a headache, it can take over your whole being. You can’t think, sleep, focus, and there’s a throbbing pain you can’t get rid of! Next time you’re suffering here’s some tricks to try:

-With firm, piano-playing fingers, knead the area just above the ears—the temporalis muscle—for thirty to sixty seconds.

-Massage the ears by pulling on them, and work the jaw muscles with your fingers—moving them in firm upward circles—for fifteen to thirty seconds; repeat three times.

-Grip your scalp as if you’re intensely shampooing it for thirty to sixty seconds. Linger on the spots where the sensation feels most powerful and heavenly.

-Interlace your fingers behind the base of the head again, dropping elbows toward the floor so the head hangs heavy. Then extend the neck muscles up away from the spine, gripping the upper trapezius muscles (i.e., most of the upper back and back of the neck) to add slight pressure. Repeat several times.

Low carb diets don’t work as well as simply incorporating more protein! Swap trail mix for whole nuts or optimize your salad by tossing in lentils, beans, and walnuts!

Also, eat dinner earlier so that your body has more time to digest before you fall asleep.

As for exercise, one of the best exercises that you can do is walk! Try getting in a few steps after every meal. In fact, the chinese have a saying that translates to, “If you walk one hundred steps after each meal, you’ll live to 99.”

Did you know that the average American only gets 16 of the recommended 25 daily grams?

Top your fiber levels, eat produce at every meal, and eat legumes at least five times a week. Foods like lentils, black beans, split peas, and chickpeas are super beneficial!
