π¦ The Corona Virus-- it's exactly what it says it is. A virus. Like the flu, or a cold π€§ We encounter viruses on a daily basis. In fact, we even have viruses in our body that serve integral roles in maintaining homeostasis and helping our body adapt to the world around us.
π€·ββοΈ So, why the panic? From watching numerous new reports and reading numerous articles, I believe the panic is coming from the unknown. Our leaders and "experts" in the field are disagreeing on the magnitude of the issue.
βοΈDon't get me wrong, it's a problem. It's a problem for those who are immunocompromised-- the elderly, infants, those undergoing chemotherapy or have a chronic illness. Yes, those who are immunocompromised will get more sick (from anything) than a healthy person and may experience complications that can unfortunately lead to death. πͺπͺA healthy person who has a strong immune system and lives a healthy lifestyle is not at risk for these complications!
When faced with fear it's best to focus on what we CAN control. We can control the strength of our immune system by:
ππ- Eating well: ELIMINATE SUGAR! Fuel your body with whole foods rich in vitamins and nutrients
πΆββοΈπ- Moving: Daily movement (walking, playing with kids, strength training, taking the stairs) strengthens your body and releases hormones that strength your immune system
π- Sleep: Our body is most efficient at repairing during sleeping hours. Particularly hours BEFORE midnight This includes staying at home and resting when you aren't feeling well.
π- Get checked and adjusted: Research shows that chiropractic adjustments to the upper cervical spine increase WBC (white blood cell count-- IMMUNE CELLS) by 40%!
βοΈDon't panic! Our body is an incredible machine that will adapt and function at full potential when we take care of it. Focus on positivity, truth and what you can control when faced with situations of panic or unknown. Thank you for your insight and strength as we navigate this area of unknown!
