🖤✨ Amplifying Black Voices ✨🖤
Today we created intentional space to listen, reflect, and honor the lived experiences of Black clinicians.
We talked about the cultural differences within Black individuals and families and the importance of providing therapy spaces where clients can show up authentically, without shrinking, code-switching, or carrying the burden of explanation.
We acknowledged the current sociopolitical climate and the impact that shifting policies, public discourse, and cultural tensions continue to have on Black lives. We named how these realities enter the therapy room and shape both the client's and the clinician's experiences.
We emphasized validation, affirmation, and genuine support from leadership. We talked about honoring Black joy alongside pain. We committed to intentional check-ins, cultural presence, and ensuring representation in our therapy rooms.
We also held space for the emotional labor of Black mental health clinicians and the fatigue that can come from continually holding space for others while navigating systemic realities.
This was not about solving everything. It was about listening with intention and committing to continued growth.
Representation matters.
Voice matters.
Connection matters.
