✨ Workshop Wednesday Reflection ✨

This month’s Workshop Wednesday presented by Julie Thigpen, MA, LPC-S, RPT-S, EMDR trained focused on exploring the use of puppets in play therapy and the meaningful impact they can have in supporting children’s expression, connection and emotional growth. Through hands-on learning and discussion, our team gained a deeper understanding of how puppets can create opportunities for children to communicate feelings, build stories and engage in therapeutic play in a way that feels safe and natural.

We’re grateful for moments like these that encourage continued learning, creativity and growth within our practice. Play is a powerful tool and we’re excited to keep expanding the ways we support the children and families we serve.

Elizabeth continues to demonstrate an incredible commitment to growth, clinical excellence, and the development of future clinicians through her work with children, families, and supervisees. Her dedication to creating safe, connected, and healing spaces for others is reflected in every role she serves, including as an LPC-S, EMDR trained clinician, Sand Tray Certified Therapist, and now RPT-S™.

In the middle of a full and meaningful day of EMDR training at Distinctive Counseling, hosted in partnership with CompassionWorks, LLC and the energy in the room is something special.

Clinicians are actively learning about Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), leaning into the learning and showing up with so much intention for the clients they serve. You can feel the balance of curiosity, vulnerability, and growth happening across the room.

There’s something powerful about pausing in the middle of it all and recognizing what’s unfolding. This is what it looks like when clinicians commit to deepening their work. This is what it looks like when we invest in trauma informed care in our communities.

Grateful to be in this space, alongside professionals who are doing the work with so much care and purpose.

Congratulations!!!! We are so proud to celebrate Victor Casares, BS on passing the National Counselor Examination. This is a meaningful milestone and a reflection of his dedication to the counseling profession and the clients he serves.

Victor is currently completing his internship with us at Distinctive Counseling and we are excited to share that he will be continuing with our team as an LPC Associate. He will be under the supervision of Elizabeth Barrientes, MS, LPC-S, RPT, EMDR Trained.
