🌍✨ World Music Therapy Week 2026 starts today!

From 10 to 15 April, the global music therapy community comes together to mark World Music Therapy Week: a time dedicated to advocacy, awareness and sharing the value of music therapy worldwide.

This year’s theme, “Connecting Borders: Creating Networks and Enhancing Identities through Music Therapy”, highlights how the profession fosters connections across cultures, strengthens networks and supports identities through meaningful musical experiences.

The theme also aligns with the 18th World Congress of Music Therapy - Connecting Borders, the leading international event in the field, taking place this July in Bologna, Italy 🇮🇹🌐

After nearly 17 years of serving the Coastal Bend community as the first clinic to offer ABA and music therapy services, Therapy Connections has discontinued its direct clinic-based ABA services as of May 23. As the first established Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) in the area, it has been a challenging but wonderful journey to develop and build a successful ABA clinic in Coastal Bend, where such services were previously unavailable. Please know that this change is not due to a lack of success in the community for the children we have served or because the small company could not survive. Rather, it has come about because of opportunities to expand services into a previously unexplored area of pediatric healthcare in our region, allowing a broader spectrum of services to the community.

This is not the end of Therapy Connections of South Texas; it represents a reformulation of how we deliver services. Music therapy services will continue as usual at the current location. ABA services will now focus on parent and in-home support and education, Functional Behavior Assessments, school district in-service training, teacher and classroom support, and community training to assist individuals with autism.
