The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Cold Watch for the area from Saturday evening through Monday morning with temperatures in the 20s to 30s and wind chill values in the 10s to 20s.

In anticipation of this, the City will open two Overnight Refuge Centers, Saturday through Tuesday:
• Ben Garza Gym at 1815 Howard Street
• Del Mar College Windward Campus FEMA Dome, 4101 Old Brownsville Road - Entrance #1

The city will also open four Daytime Warming Centers on Sunday.

Residents are reminded that all City Public Libraries and Senior Centers are available during regular operating hours for those seeking a warm place.

The Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority (CCRTA) will allow individuals to ride fare-free upon telling their Bus Operator they will travel to the nearest Daytime Warming Center or the Overnight Refuge Centers. For more information, go to http://www.ccrta.org.

My reflections on 2025.

This year held more than a chapter. It held growth, responsibility, healing, disappointment, leadership, and gratitude all at once. I moved through new academic roles, deeper service, bold risks, personal work, and moments that required both courage and humility.

I am mindful that growth is a privilege and a responsibility.

Looking toward 2026, I am choosing to lead with greater intention, care, and alignment in how I give my time and energy.
