On June 9, 2025, Josiah was diagnosed with high-risk AML Leukemia. Throughout his treatment, Josiah required many units of blood to keep his body strong enough to endure intense chemotherapy. Those lifesaving blood donations made it possible for him to continue fighting. Ultimately, Josiah received a bone marrow transplant from his brother!

And today, we are overjoyed to share that Josiah is officially in remission! 🙌❤️ His story is a powerful reminder that when you donate blood, you’re giving more than just a unit, you’re giving someone the chance to keep fighting.

While a replacement blood drive was once held in Josiah’s honor earlier this year, let’s transform the upcoming blood drive at Bishop Elementary School on Wednesday, February 25th into a celebration drive! Join us as we celebrate this incredible miracle and help make more success stories like Josiah’s possible. 🩸🎉

We want to share another meaningful update on our sweet friend and co-worker, Audry. 💛

Since her diagnosis on January 9th, Audry has received 8 units of blood and 7 units of platelets as she continues her fight against T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at MD Anderson. Each of those units represents a donor who stepped forward at just the right time.

Today was especially moving. Several of Audry’s family members came in to donate platelets on her behalf, turning their love and support into action.

The Coastal Bend Blood Center is incredibly proud to celebrate an extraordinary milestone achieved by one of our most dedicated donors, David Wik. David has officially reached 130 gallons donated, a truly remarkable accomplishment that represents thousands of lives impacted right here in our community.

When we first met Mr. Wik, he was faithfully donating whole blood at his church in Corpus Christi. After learning more about the urgent need for platelets, he was asked to consider making the switch. Without hesitation, David stepped up and began donating platelets, one of the most critical blood components for cancer patients, trauma victims and those undergoing life-saving treatments.

David, your 130 gallons represent more than a number, they represent hope, healing and countless second chances for many in our Coastal Bend community.

From all of us at the Coastal Bend Blood Center, thank you for your incredible generosity and dedication. You are truly a lifesaver! ❤️

We had the pleasure of giving a tour to Mary Carroll High School’s Sophomore Health Science Class earlier today! Students got a behind-the-scenes look at how blood donation works & learned about the lifesaving impact it has on our community.

We were especially proud that a few students even rolled up their sleeves and donated blood, making a real difference in our community! Thank you to the students and instructor, Casey Pyle from Mary Carroll High School for spending the morning with us and for supporting our mission to save lives across the Coastal Bend. ❤️
