The PATCH trial used HIGH doses of estrogen patches on men with prostate cancer. The median age of the participants was 72. There was NO increased risk for blood clots or cardiovascular events. It was also shown to prevent bone loss! These results could potentially be extrapolated to women to encourage using HRT 10 years after menopause.
