Heather Welch, Clinical Informatics Coordinator in the Southwest Health System’s Information Services department, is recognized as Southwest Health System’s Employee of the Month.
Heather was recognized by many co-workers, who said, “Heather Welch is truly one of the most valuable people at Southwest Health System. While supporting the Cerner Ambulatory conversion, arguably one of the largest and most complex projects to date, she has continued to stay on top of all pharmacy-related requests without hesitation. There are always orders needing alteration, medications requiring proper linking, and countless issues that arise daily, yet Heather has never once turned away a project or said, “I am too busy.”
In addition to her Cerner work, Heather has served as a key point person for the Pyxis conversion, consistently finding time in an already demanding schedule to collaborate with both the Pyxis team and the Cerner integration team. Her flexibility, planning, efficiency, and incredible intelligence have kept multiple complex projects across departments on track and on time. She is integral to both hospital and clinic functionality and is, without question, an MVP of the health system.
Heather’s impact extends far beyond pharmacy. She has been invaluable to lab operations, acting as a keystone connecting differing departments and workflows through Cerner. Her work on projects such as the Vitros 7600 interfaces and Cerner Ambulatory has been instrumental, with her data management and coordination playing a critical role in progress. Without Heather’s contributions, many of these efforts would still be in early stages. She has also been crucial in supporting departments like Rehab, where her knowledge, extra effort, and time ensured daily documentation and charges could be completed during a period of major system changes. Despite her already heavy workload, she consistently makes time to help others with patience and kindness.
Heather demonstrates an unwavering commitment to end users and the community we serve. She works tirelessly to gather information, train users, and find solutions tailored to individual needs, all while maintaining exceptional support across the organization. She is always available when needed, regardless of time or circumstance, and exemplifies true servant leadership by consistently putting others first.
Beyond her technical expertise and work ethic, Heather is simply a great human being, kind, funny, humble, and a joy to work alongside. She approaches every challenge with thoughtfulness and care, making a meaningful difference across Southwest Health System every single day.
Heather not only does her job exceptionally well, but she does also it in a smart, thorough, and efficient way that elevates everyone around her. We would be lost without her, and she is highly deserving of Employee of the Month recognition.”
Congrats to Heather Welch on her selection as the April 2026 SHS Employee of the Month! We are so proud of her accomplishments and are so thankful to have her as a member of this great SHS caregiver team!
