Thunderstorms are likely to cross Lake Michigan late tonight into early Tuesday morning. Severe wind gusts are possible with these storms between 2 AM and 9 AM, particularly in Western Lower Michigan, perhaps into Mid Michigan. Additional thunderstorms could develop in southern Michigan Tuesday afternoon or night, but there is less confidence in those occurring.

TODAY IS THE DAY! Wednesday March 20th, 2024, around 1pm the countywide outdoor warning siren network will be activated as part of the statewide tornado drill.

Use this time to get to shelter if you can, or at least consider what your options would be had an actual tornado warning occurred.

THIS IS ONLY A DRILL!

Severe weather sirens will sound in the City of Perry and Village of Morrice. Please pass this information along to others. This is also an excellent time to review your severe weather safe place.

There is currently no open burning of debris in most of Northern Lower Michigan. Check the DNR burn permit website before you burn! It does not matter if there was snow on the ground two days ago.

{THIS IS AN OUDATED POST - PLEASE CHECK NEWER UPDATES}

[THU 3PM] The overall picture hasn't changed much. Snow begins around lunchtime or early afternoon Friday. We may start to mix with or change to rain in the evening (*more on that in a second.) Back to all snow near or just after midnight. Accumulating snow done before lunch Saturday with expected totals around 4" to 8".

Temperatures on Saturday will be falling all day through the 20s with winds from the west at 20-35+ mph. Wind chills in the teens and single digits.

Scattered snow showers Saturday afternoon and evening could bring another inch or two, snow showers Saturday night could give us an inch or so, and snow showers Sunday yet another inch or so.

Sunday's high temps will be in the teens with wind chills frequently below zero. Next chance of temps above freezing around January 24th.

We will push out another update this evening.

*There still are some questions on the exact path of the center of the storm. If we don't change over to rain, then accumulations could total as much as 10" or so. In my opinion that's better though, because if we do get snow then rain then back to snow and very cold temps, it's going to be tough to clear on Saturday with a layer of ice...
