I went down the rabbit hole last night and let me tell you what. I got so mad! Have you ever really looked at what you are buying? I mean I'm not a health nut by any means, I still eat fast food and processed foods, but this one really ruffled my feathers so badly I just wanted to scream! I follow and support locals as much as I can. I buy or make trades with vendors at events. I occasionally post other small businesses to bring them to your attention and support what they are doing. But what really gets my goat!!! is when a person or business repackages a product, they did not make, they claim it is theirs, no nod to the business who actually made it. Three different pages I follow, and I stopped there because I was so angry, are purchasing their teas, already blended, from another company, repackaging it, slapping their label on it and calling it hand blended. I know I'm rambling here. I slept on it. Tried to let it go. But I can't. I'm not naming and shaming. You can easily find out for yourself. Go to Local XYZ business, pick a product food related, highlight the ingredient portion and do a web search. Even their description of how it tastes etc is copied darn near word for word from the originating company. I'm out here busting my brain to learn herbalism, to blend a good tasting tea, that maybe can help someone's health, while they sell you someone else's work. No pride! No shame! At least tell your customers. Ugh. I'll be stomping around the rest of the day grumbling under my breath. Why!!??

Just a "little" project I've started. With over 80 herbs this might take a minute. I've been wanting to do this since I opened The Tea Shed and just hadn't gotten around to it. Well yesterday and today were filled with around to its. Reorganized the herbs to fit in some new ones I had gotten that didn't have a jar yet, jarred more of my fruits for teas, added some of my spices to jars that I use in the seasoning blends and finally started on re-labeling all the herb jars.
**Note** We are NOT medical professionals, we DO recommend you consult with your doctor first. This is just information gleaned from our herbal books.

Let me introduce some of the crew! While I don't employee a physical person these guys all get a salary of sorts.
1) The Tea Shed where all the magic happens and I find my zen. We had The Tea Shop, no longer renting a public space. We had The Tea Room a spare bedroom in our house. And finally The Tea Shed where I can gather with my community!
2) Mom's Tea. Mother sent us so many teas and ideas, she got her own blend. She started this dream while I was still in highschool and here 30 some years later it's finally come about.
3) Sunny Kettle, a work in progress, will be our mobile tea shop for events. If you want to help we could use it. Two years going we are almost done tearing it out and are moving onto electric, lights, floors and walls.
4) The Health & Beauty Aisle. All those kitchen experiments are hard at work here. I will try something herbally and you reap the results.
5) The Tea Parlour. I wanted a mug club but that name so didn't work. Let The Tea Parlour work for you saving $$$
6) The Herbal Library. All the info I've collected, ready to help the next person. This will keep expanding as I have time.

Busy, busy, busy! Can't help myself, the villain in Frosty the Snowman!
Anyway, new rub thanks to The Spice Shack, Smoky Tea Rub made with Lapsang Souchong Tea! We tried it on our baked chicken last night, tweaked it a little and added it to The Tea Shed.
Clearance teas! Everything on the rack is $3, buy 3 get one free! Only what's on the rack.
New tea/ herb. We've got Tulsi in. Tulsi is a sacred, Indian herb also known as Holy Basil or the Elixir of Life. This is a light brew with a minty taste with an earthy undertone.
Base teas, need more jars but we are adding our base teas to the shelves. For sale in The Tea Shed only. We aren't packaging them up for events.
And finally our herbal library! I'll lend these out if I know you, but they are available to peruse while you're shopping. Some are purchased reference books and others are print outs from newsletters and other sources. Any classes I have paid for/taken are not available.

Couple things to note:

1. We ask that you enter the north drive at the shop sign, drive around the truck and park near the shed. Our attack geese have gotten very moody and we'll be putting up a pen for them, but in the meantime they don't typically go all the way to the shed. Also the house drive is their territory and we prefer to keep it clear of vehicles besides our personal cars.

2. Our hours are 1pm to 7pm Thursday thru Sunday. When available, we can make an appointment for you outside those hours, but we will not continue to do so if appointments don't show up.

3. I am entering the event season, which means in a nutshell we'll most likely be closed on Saturdays. I travel a lot to events, I'm there 5 hours or better, and I'm exhausted when I get home. Please check our monthly calendar to see where we'll be and if we'll be closed. Exception being the Kendallville Farmer's market, we get home in time to open.

4. On the final note, we thank you all for supporting our small business and hope to see you at The Tea Shed soon.

Ugh today is just too darn blustery! Tomorrow, while a slight bit on the cooler side, will be nicer. Perfect time to get out and do your shopping before the next storm rolls in (I hear sunday-monday). Come out and shop all these great small businesses in Hamilton tomorrow! We got the teas to keep you warm while mother nature sings her final winter dance! (Maybe not so final?)
