It is these qualities which I strive to honor and evoke in my yoga. Ajaya is both at the same time, the fabric of, and the purpose of, everything; The fabric of reality, the fabric of this realm anyway, of existence. Of Spirit. Everything is God. Everything is the same thing, wearing all possible different masks. At the bottom of the cell, the smallest part of the atom, everything, everything, every element, is made out of the same stuff; configured in an infinity of different ways. This stuff is God. Ajaya. I think Ajaya might also mean connection, love, support, compassion, prosperity, true righteousness, a sense of belonging. Ajaya is both the fabric and the PURPOSE of, maybe, everything. The fabric of everything, the purpose of everything. It is the connection happening. It is the bringing together of circumstances that absolutely wonderful experiences can be had. Like the bringing together of mates that love can happen or the bringing together of dedicated practitioners that a yoga class can happen; the bringing together of proteins that life can happen. These moments when we feel those: love, loved, in love; truly belonged: wanted, valued, supported. When we feel compassion from and for others. Those moments of… bliss isn't the right word… but it's a warm good punctual feeling of ‘This is good’, ‘This what im here for’, this is what i'm wired for. Maybe we're here to experience the infinity of experiences possible and I believe Ajaya to be the pinnacle of what is possible to experience. I just want to honor this principle in my yoga. It is such a wonderful thing to be able to get however many ever people together to do stuff like this! We’re all made out of this fabric, we're all God. We are all an aperture through which the universe looks out at itself. So when we all get together this way; we move together and breathe together and the energy that's moved by us, in us, and through us collectively, in sync, that is Ajaya! That is magic! That is healing! That is amazing! And you can feel it! Limitless, ever powerful, it is power itself. Repeating Ajaya as a mantra is tapping into recognizing that everything is God, is this fabric. Ajaya is the power of God; tapping into a well of spiritual Godly power; potential. You are God! You are infinite in love and potential! You are powerful! You are Ajaya! To repeat Ajaya as a mantra is to honor these. This word came to me, I believe, as a gift. It came to me while in trance and I believe it to have come directly from source. My girlfriend, Maya, was with me when it happened. I had never heard the word before in my life and I didn’t know what it meant but I came out repeating it over and over with the fullest conviction that it held great meaning and importance. We said it to each other even though we couldn’t describe what it meant, we could feel what it meant. This carried on for some weeks before I researched the word on the internet to find that it has many different translations and belongs to several eastern cultures and languages. In Sanskrit, the ancient language associated with Yoga, Ajaya can be translated to ‘unsurpassable’ or ‘Invincible’. Slowly but surely it took on a meaning to me that I can't easily describe. It represents the essence and/or the substance of Spirit, of God, of Love. And I could think of no better name to give to my youthful Yoga practice. Ajaya Yoga will be the name of my practice and of my particular style of Yoga. I sing to thee, Ajaya.
