It has been 19 years since a devastating fire inside a dormitory at Seton Hall University killed three students and injured more than 50 others.

After the Fire - Come and watch and hear about the story of the Seton Hall University dorm fire and the heroine story of survival, friendship and forgiveness as fire survivors Shawn Simons and Alvaro Llanos share their unforgettable story about the fire, their road to recovery and their lasting friendship.

Wednesday, February 27th - 7 p.m. at the LaSells Stewart Center. Admission is free and refreshments are providing while you mingle with Shawn and Alvaro.

Fire Safety Achievement Trophy points handed out to all those in attendance from a housed fraternity, sorority or private co-op!

Show Shawn and Al your support by coming out and spending time with them. You'll be uplifted and inspired.... Guaranteed!

Good luck with finals!! Enjoy your winter break with family & friends, you earned it. Before heading out for break, here are a few safety precautions to follow to keep you safe and sound until you return for Winter Term:

- Make sure your place is safe before you leave: turn off and unplug appliances, make sure your heat is still on while you are away, provide clearance around all heaters, close bedroom doors, lock ALL doors and windows, if you are the last one out, take one last look before you close the door behind you and give a neighbor your contact information.

- Travel safe: allow plenty of time for travel, make sure you are adequately rested before driving long distances, review road conditions before heading out and plan accordingly, DON'T TAKE CHANCES!

NEED A SMOKE ALARM? - The Corvallis Fire Department can install a smoke detector in your house or apartment for free. Just Email me at this address and we can arrange a free installation for you: jim.patton@corvallisoregon.gov.

Remember, Your landlord or property manager is required to provide you with working smoke alarms and CO alarms when a fuel source is present inside your apartment. You are required to provide a fresh battery when applicable.

Tragic off-campus fire claims the lives of 5 young Texas State college students in San Marcos, TX.
Don't let this happen in Corvallis! Don't let it happen to Oregon State students!
Be Safe!
1. Cheack your smoke alarms tonight and every month.
2. Never disable your smoke alarms, even for a second
3. Make sure you have an escape window out of every sleeping room.
4. Don't ever smoke inside or use candles unattended.
5. Report faulty equipment & fixtures immediately
6. Just Be Smart and Be Careful
