What to consider when making plans to travel... check out this post by Oregon Health Authority.

As we move firmly into summer, many people in Oregon are planning to travel. After such a long time without feeling safe about taking a vacation or visiting loved ones that live far, it’s exciting to imagine returning to our usual summer activities.

It’s also important to consider safe choices for travel this summer.

Here are some things to consider when making plans to travel:
-- Follow all destination recommendations or requirements.
-- Monitor yourself for COVID-19 symptoms and get tested if you develop symptoms.

Getting vaccinated against COVID-19 is the best way to protect yourself from getting COVID-19.

If you are traveling with children who can’t get vaccinated at this time, it’s safest to follow recommendations for unvaccinated people. The CDC has travel tips for families who have unvaccinated children (ow.ly/8sja50FhfA6).

Children need good nutrition all year long. When school is out during the summer months, many children no longer have access to even one nutritious meal each day. The Summer Food Service Program helps to fill the gap. To find a site, call 2-1-1, text “Food” or “Comida” to 877-877, or visit Summer Food Oregon (https://www.oregon.gov/ode/students-and-family/childnutrition/sfsp/Pages/Summer-Food-Oregon.aspx/map/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery).
