WAYNE COUNTY BURN BAN IN EFFECT: With the agreement of all Fire Chiefs in Wayne County, Iowa, and in accordance with state code, a ban on open burning has been issued for Wayne County until further notice. This ban has been issued due to extremely dry conditions that pose a danger to life and property.

Dangerously hot conditions are expected this afternoon through the evening, with heat index values reaching 110°F to 115°F.

☀️ Cooling Stations Open until 4pm:
Wayne County Public Health and the Wayne County Courthouse basement are available for anyone needing relief from the heat.

🔥 Safety Reminders:

・Stay out of the sun when possible

・Check in on relatives, neighbors, and vulnerable individuals

・Stay safe and take precautions during this extreme heat event!
