Employee Spotlight: Billy

Billy has been serving in EMS for an incredible 25 years — with 20 of those as a paramedic. His journey began at just 18 years old, when he first started working on an ambulance.

Before EMS, Billy worked at Dairy Queen during high school. Little did he know, a breakfast order at Dairy Queen would change his life. When the deputy chief of Sellersburg Fire Dept. came through, Billy offered her biscuits & gravy… and in return, she offered him a job doing ambulance billing. That gig quickly led to riding on the ambulance, taking an EMT class, then a paramedic class — and the rest is history.

Billy’s favorite part of EMS is the conversations he has with patients, especially elderly individuals during non-emergent transfers. He believes there’s so much wisdom to learn from older generations, if only we take the time to listen.

Outside of work, Billy enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters. He’s an avid fisherman, lifelong baseball fan, and has collected baseball cards for as long as he can remember.

Billy was drawn to HCH EMS after deciding to step away from management at a private EMS Agency and return to full-time ambulance work. “HCH EMS always had the reputation of being one of the highest-quality providers in the region,” he says. “They do things the right way for the right reasons.”

We’re grateful to have Billy’s experience, dedication, and heart on our team!

A stroke can happen to 𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦, at 𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘢𝘨𝘦 — and it strikes fast. Recognizing the warning signs early can mean the difference between full recovery and lifelong disability. Use BE FAST to spot a stroke:

🔹 𝗕 – Balance: Sudden loss of balance or coordination
🔹 𝗘 – Eyes: Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes
🔹 𝗙 – Face: One side of the face droops when smiling
🔹 𝗔 – Arms: One arm drifts downward or feels weak
🔹 𝗦 – Speech: Slurred or strange speech
🔹 𝗧 – Time: Don’t wait — call 911 immediately!

🚑 Time = Brain. Act fast. Call 911.
