The world feels so heavy right now and I know there are so many that cannot fathom or make sense of it all.

Recently, there have been too many lives lost locally. So many families changed forever. So much heartbreak. So many stories that didn’t get the chance to keep unfolding.

As therapists, we sit with grief often—but there are moments when it reaches beyond the therapy room and into all of us. This is one of those times, and between family and the impact on our clients, this hits home and deeply to the heart.

There’s no “right” way to respond to loss on this scale. There will never be a true understanding of events. What we can understand is the shockwave the losses cause, the numbness and heartbreak that family, friends, and the community are experiencing. Your heart is responding the way hearts do when something deeply human is shaken.

A few gentle reminders:
• It’s okay to talk about it—or not talk about it. We shouldn't shy away from the topic of death.
• It’s okay if this brings up your own past grief.
• It’s okay to need support right now, or to not even know what you may need at this time.

If you’re struggling more than you expected, please don’t carry that alone. Reach out and check on each other. We have unfortunately seen the ripple effects this tragedy can cause. Connection matters, especially in moments like this.

We are here with our own grief from these losses while holding space for the families and all who are grieving, questioning, and trying to make sense of it. 🤍

May is Mental Health Awareness Month

At Aligned Counseling & Wellness Services, we believe mental health care is about more than just managing symptoms—it’s about coming back into alignment with yourself. Mental health is not a weakness. It’s not something to hide or “push through.” It’s a vital part of our overall well-being — just as important as our physical health.

Whether you’re navigating anxiety, processing trauma, adjusting to a new season of life, or feeling overwhelmed in ways you can’t quite explain, there is nothing “wrong” with you. Your mind and body are responding in the ways they’ve learned to—and healing begins with understanding, not judgment.

Mental health isn’t one-size-fits-all. It’s layered, personal, and deeply connected to your story. And you deserve care that honors all of it.

This month, we invite you to:
• Slow down and check in with yourself
• Get curious about what you’re feeling (instead of pushing it away)
• Extend compassion inward, not just outward
• Reach for support when you need it

Healing isn’t about becoming someone new—it’s about reconnecting with who you’ve always been, beneath the stress, the pain, and the expectations. Healing isn’t linear. Growth isn’t perfect. But every step toward awareness, compassion, and support matters.

You don’t have to navigate it alone. If no one has told you lately — your mental health matters. You matter.

Nature offers a powerful (and often overlooked) boost to mental health.

Sunlight helps regulate mood and sleep, fresh air can ease stress, and time outdoors naturally supports clearer thinking. Adding in movement—like a walk around the neighborhood—or moments of play, whether that’s with your kids, a pet, or simply doing something lighthearted, can further reduce anxiety and increase feelings of connection and joy.

It doesn’t have to be complicated or time-consuming. A few intentional minutes outside can make a meaningful difference.
