Mark your calendars! Recoup’s 15th Annual Push-Ups for Charity is happening May 30th from 11 AM - 2 PM here at the Recoup studio, and if you’ve never experienced it before, now’s the time to jump in. Whether you’re a fitness fanatic, a casual gym-goer, or someone who wants to make a difference, this event is for you.

All proceeds benefit the Boot Campaign, specifically their Health & Wellness Program which provides holistic, personalized care to Veterans and their families. As a community, we’ve raised over $275,000 to help identify and treat the root causes of the invisible wounds of war.

If your progress has stalled, here’s something most people won’t tell you: it might not be your discipline, your motivation or that you aren’t pushing hard enough..

It might be that your body is under too much stress to adapt.

Here’s what that actually looks like in real life:
• You’re training 3–5x per week, but your strength isn’t going up
• You’re eating in a calorie deficit, but fat loss has slowed (or stopped)
• You wake up tired, even after a full night in bed
• You feel restless, wired, or have trouble switching off at night
• You rely on caffeine to get through the day.

If you recognize yourself in 2–3 of these, your system likely isn’t recovering well. And here’s why that matters:
Progress = stress + recovery.

If recovery is too low, your body won’t build muscle, improve performance, or efficiently lose fat no matter how “on point” you are.

So instead of doubling down, try this:
→ Keep your workouts, but lower the intensity for 1 week (leave 2–3 reps in reserve)
→ Eat at least at maintenance for a few days (especially increase carbs)
→ Set a fixed wind-down time before bed (no screens, low stimulation).

This isn’t about doing less forever. It’s about getting your body back to a place where it can actually respond.
Because when recovery improves… Everything else starts working again. That’s the piece most people are missing.
