We are honored about our new partnership with Lexipol. Together, we are committed to delivering the best possible support to meet the distinct needs of this critical workforce, enhancing both mental well-being and operational readiness. and joining together in our shared mission for public safety.

“First Responder Wellness is focused exclusively on the needs of public safety personnel, and approximately 90% of those treated in our programs return to work,” says Stephen Odom, Ph.D., founder and chief clinical officer of First Responder Wellness. “Our partnership with Lexipol allows us to further enhance the level of care we provide by ensuring our clinicians have access to specialized, culturally competent training, while also helping us spread awareness of the treatment programs we offer.”

Lexipol has partnered with First Responder Wellness to enhance mental health support for public safety personnel by integrating clinician training with residential treatment services, addressing the critical mental health needs of first responders.

First Responders are more likely to die by su***de than in the line of duty. The unique set of challenges they face in their careers contribute to high rates of su***de.

September is Su***de Awareness Month, so we wanted to provide resources to help you help those around you. Ask someone directly if they are struggling with suicidal thoughts or ideation. The question may make all the difference for them to know you care.

For public safety and first responders, dealing with stress and trauma is part of the job. But because of high exposure to traumatic situations, it may be difficult to find healthy ways to cope. Many people turn to alcohol to self-medicate to wind down. This can be a slippery slope with 20%-24% of first responders struggle with an addiction, which is twice the rate of the general population.

In support of Alcohol Awareness Month (April 2024), we wanted to share the "CAGE Questionnaire" that is a screening tool that can be used for a self-assessment or to share with someone who may be struggling. First Responder Wellness is always here to help. Call 888.443.4898 or email info@frhealth.com.

We are kicking things off to show our support of First Responder Wellness Week (March 25 – 29, 2024). Wellness is the act of healthy habits on a daily basis to attain better physical and mental health outcomes - - so that instead of just surviving, you are thriving.

Wellness is an active process. It is a conscious, self-directed, and continuous process. As you think about your life, you can use the 8 Dimensions of Wheel for a self-inventory. Are there areas where you are thriving, while other areas are not getting your attention? An ‘unbalanced life’ is like driving on a flat tire. It may not take you where you want to go.

Share your comments about what you are doing to keep your “wellness balanced”.

First Responder Wellness

Law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMT’s, dispatch, emergency room personnel, and other first responders put themselves on the front lines of responding to crises and emergencies every day. Dealing with stress and trauma is a part of the job. Unfortunately, repeated exposure to highly stressful and traumatic situations is known to impact mental health and wellbeing in a myriad of ways.

Due to the very nature of their job, first responders experience more acute stress and trauma than the general public. In response to the high intensity of their jobs, drugs and alcohol use can become a means of coping, leaving First Responders at risk for developing substance abuse disorders along with co-occurring mental health issues like depression, anxiety, and stress disorders.

Simple Recovery’s First Responders Treatment Program is dedicated to meeting the needs of America’s crucial First Responders. We recognize the sacrifices you make every day as a first responder and have developed our comprehensive treatment program to serve and heal you. Whether you’re struggling from alcohol dependence or drug dependence such as prescription painkillers after an injury on the job, the First Responder Treatment Program at Simple Recovery is here to help you overcome your dependency and get you back to optimal health and wellness.
