UNDER-EYE TREATMENT👁
🤔Both dermal fillers and PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) are injectable treatments that can rejuvenate the delicate under-eye area by addressing under-eye hollows, dark circles, or crepey skin. Dermal fillers work by plumping the skin with a hyaluronic acid solution while PRP (which is derived from a patient’s own blood) works by stimulating the skin’s natural repair process.
🙋🏻♀️While dermal fillers are a popular choice for facial rejuvenation, PRP treatment is my preferred option for treating the delicate under-eye area. Given the intricate anatomy of the under-eye area and potential for trouble, only about 30% of patients who request under-eye filler end up having that treatment, due to candidacy. Here’s why we prefer PRP over dermal filler to this area:
1️⃣•••PRP has a lower risk of complications. Complications associated with dermal filler to the under-eye area include vascular occlusion, blindness, lumps + bumps, Tyndall effect (blue tint to the skin), unnatural results (boggy and bloated), or malar edema (pockets of puffiness that may take years to resolve).
2️⃣•••PRP creates a natural look. Rather than volumeizing the under-eye area with synthetic forms of hyaluronic acid, PRP simply encourages one’s skin to heal itself by generating collagen, elastin, and natural hyaluronic acid. These proteins strengthen and volumize the skin, improving the appearance of hollows beneath the eyes.
💯PRP is an excellent choice for giving the under-eye area a smooth, youthful, and rested look. At least 3 sessions spaced 6 weeks apart may be necessary for optimal results. Results are visible around 12 weeks post treatment and can last 1.5 - 2 years. Results may vary from person-to-person.
