We offer a different approach to care.

Resurface Group is devoted to providing a unique, life-based approach to care for mental health obstacles, substance use disorders, addiction, behavioral challenges, and family system issues.

Our experienced team of clinicians and coaches are highly relational and care deeply about taking the time to understand the detail of every client’s situation.

We emphasize spending time with clients outside the office, in their homes, in typical social settings, and engaging in activities and their day-to-day life—because we’re not here to treat a diagnosis; we’re here to treat the whole person, and we’ll do whatever that takes.

Showing yourself kindness is essential if you want to improve your mental wellbeing.

Strong self-compassion promotes a variety of benefits such as better health, relationships and general wellbeing.

People with higher self-compassion generally experience lower levels of anxiety and depression because they are able to recognize when they are suffering and treat themselves with kindness.

Meet our clinical system manager, Paul Pluymen.

Paul is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a passion for meeting clients where they are with empathy, curiosity, and care.

His professional journey spans a variety of clinical settings—including residential treatment centers for severe mood disorders, group therapy practices, and community-based counseling programs supporting individuals impacted by substance use.

Rooted in a background in social psychology research, Paul brings a deep interest in people’s stories and a commitment to creating safe, collaborative spaces for healing.

He is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and integrates trauma-informed, client-centered techniques to help individuals process the past and build toward a more empowered future.

Clients often appreciate Paul’s thoughtful presence, sense of humor, and genuine respect for their unique experiences.

Outside the therapy room, he’s a drummer, a devoted Dungeons & Dragons player, and an unapologetic Magic: The Gathering enthusiast. (He also has a twin—but you’ll have to ask who’s older.)

Paul believes therapy doesn’t have to be intimidating—it can be human, creative, and even fun, all while doing meaningful work.
