The true nature of abuse:

Number one -you abuse me.

Number two -you abuse me and I think it’s my fault.

Number three -you’re gone and now I abuse me and I can do a better job of it than you ever did.

Number four - I find somebody else to abuse me in the same way that you did, but I don’t understand why and I don’t understand what’s going on.

STUNTED

Many of us got stuck and we stopped developing emotionally when trauma, addiction, or abuse entered their lives.

We missed out on key coping skills. We missed out on the ability to appropriately process our feelings. We started looking elsewhere for false solution solutions.

But these patterns can change.

HAVE YOU CHECKED THE CHILDREN?

Perhaps one of the most chilling lines in modern cinema comes from the bizarre and hideous crank phone calls the babysitter keeps getting again and again in
WHEN A STRANGER CALLS.

The children, already dead upstairs, are like our own negative beliefs about ourselves in our own “upstairs” heads — the lies that have been told to us that can be so hard to confront.

And just as it is for the babysitter in the movie, these calls that are coming from inside our own house fill us with doubt and often paralyze us.
