SHAMBA MEMBER SPOTLIGHT on Jen Newsome!

Jen has not only lost the pounds and inches. More importantly, she has GAINED the confidence. Jen shows up everyday (literally) with the mindset and attitude to learn, work hard and be better. Over the last few months she has gotten stronger, become a runner and is training for her first Hyrox.

When we asked her what she loves about Shamba she immediately said “oh that’s easy… it’s the community support and love you feel when you walk through the door.”

How long i’ve been at tribe: 1 yr & 2 months

Class time: 8:15 class!

Why I like coming to the gym: I like going to the gym because it makes me feel good, both physically and mentally. It helps me stay energized throughout the day, and I enjoy the challenge of getting stronger. It’s also a great way to clear my mind and de-stress, and seeing my progress over time keeps me motivated to keep going back.
favorite movement:

Favorite movements: thrusters and snatches. They work so many muscles at once and make me feel strong. They’re challenging, but I love the feeling of power and accomplishment when I complete a set.
advice:

Tip for anyone starting to work out: start small and be consistent. It’s easy to feel motivated at first, but remember that motivation can come and go. What really matters is building discipline — showing up and sticking with it, even when you don’t feel like it is what will get you results in the long run.

Why do you like coming to Tribe: I enjoy the the different workouts always something different and I really like that we he hit every muscle group in so many different ways along with some heavy lifting 💪
Favorite movement: Shoulders: strict press baby, something about throwing weight over head is so cool.
Advice to people starting out: It only takes one day at the gym to make a change in your life. It might not be the first day you go but when that day hits you’ll never want to quit going. Keeps your mind body and soul in a healthy state.

how long you have been at shamba tribe: 5 months!

what class time do you usually come at: 5:30 am class

why you like coming to the gym: I enjoy starting my day early, for years I tried different gyms and classes and nothing really stuck for a while. The day I came to Shamba for my first trial day, I met the 5:30 am crew as they were leaving for the day. Something just clicked and it felt like this is where I belong. I signed up after my trial class and started showing up at 5:30am. I know people think we are crazy to show up that early to workout, but it works perfectly with my schedule. The morning is my time to work on me, and the rest of the day falls perfectly well after a killer workout.

favorite movement and why: Deadlift is one of my favorite movements, I have been able to see the growth in my strength with this movement.

advice to people starting to workout: show up, even on days you feel like you want to skip the gym, show up and give it your all. We have one body and no spare parts so treat it kindly.
