DAR museum and research facilities are awe inspiring. Great end to a great trip!!!

Last full day of classes. We have a bit longer lunch break today so I walked around the building to the museum side. It’s just so massive. And beautiful. And holds so much of our history. Some moments just take my breath away.

Today we travel to Arvhives II in College Park, MD.
Many of my research desires are at A2. Here’s to a lucky genealogy day!
Gen-Fed is amazing, the prople are amazing. DC is one of my favorite cities.

Unbelievable day!

Today was absolutely unbelievable! Started with a full day of classes in Room 105 of NARA, bounty lands and record groups! Ended with a GEN-Fed “private escort” of the LOC (we found out tour is a no no on Mondays!!) to see the main reading room, stacks, and then to get my Library of Congress research card!!!
I have walked 6.2 miles today, all over DC, the National Mall, and two buildings.
This is my ZONE!!! Yessss, loving it!

Travel day is done, a great way to end day 1. Had orientation with meet & greet. Up nice and early in the morning, I’m going to try to catch the sunrise on the National Mall before we all have to be present at the archives (they will deny late class members entry!) Looking forward to the learning, time for reflection, and new experiences this week.

Well, my bio made it into the digital Gen-Fed Handbook. Officially off hiatus and back into genealogy! I can't believe I stepped away from it for that long, it is something I love doing. Sometimes the path life takes us on veers so slowly we don't realize we're off course until we're WAY off course. A week studying in DC will definitely be a large leap towards course correcting!
