Skiing down an untouched powder run brings a joy that is hard to convey in words. I feel grateful every day that I get to take people backcountry skiing for a living. I meet amazing people who are adventurous, kind, and excited about life. If you enjoy skiing and like hiking in nature, backcountry skiing can be your thing. It is so much fun!
If you love backcountry skiing and want an adventure, we have a few spots left on a Valdez, AK ski trip and a Svalbard, Norway ski trip off a boat.
This year, my son got hooked on powder skiing as well. Skiing together as a family is exhilarating. We cherish a weekday powder day here and there when we let him miss school and play with us in the snow. It’s a blast. I hope it is a lifelong passion that we can share.
I see this in the backcountry all the time. I skied recently with a father and daughter, with whom I have been going out for a decade. Also, just the other day, a mother and son shared a ski tour. We have plenty of time on the trail for deep conversations and sharing our dreams, challenges, and wisdom.
Here is a gem I picked up from Jenn the other day. One of the best parenting tips she believes she has done with her kids is giving them a choice to either help with the cooking or the clean-up every night. Now, her son, in his 20s, is a great cook and seemingly very responsible young man. He has bought some land with friends, who are building a cabin off the grid. So impressive.
If you are a good skier and want to learn to ski in the backcountry, please contact us. Conditions are safe right now, the days are long, and the skiing is phenomenal.
