I am honored to have attended the child abuse prevention proclamation in La Salle County representing KARE Counseling PLLC.
Today was not just about a proclamation. It was about a promise to protect, to listen, and to advocate for children whose voices are too often unheard. Child abuse is not always visible, but its impact is lasting. As a mental health professional, I have seen how deeply individuals carry their experiences and how powerful healing can be when they are met with safety, compassion, and support.
My practice currently focuses on adults. While my clinical work is currently focused on adults, my commitment to protecting and advocating for children remains at the core of my work. You may wonder what that has to do with preventing child abuse. The answer is everything.
Unresolved childhood trauma can carry into adulthood and contribute to cycles that impact the next generation. When adults are given space to heal, process, and develop healthier ways of coping, we are not only helping them. We are helping protect children from future harm.
Although I work with adults at this time, I remain committed to supporting children and families. I can connect families with trusted community resources and private practice providers. I know excellent counselors who specialize in working with children and I am always willing to help make those connections.
Prevention begins before a child is ever in danger. It begins when we support healing, increase awareness, and create access to care.
At KARE Counseling, we believe every child deserves to feel safe, valued, and seen. When individuals heal, families heal, and when families heal, children are protected.
Protecting children is not just a responsibility. It is a shared mission and a duty to act, speak up, and report so every child has the chance to be safe and protected.🩵
