🌟 Resident Spotlight: Dale 🌟

We’re shining the spotlight on Dale, a proud Navy Veteran with a strong sense of independence, a sharp routine, and a quietly kind heart.

Dale comes from a Nebraska farming family, and the family farm has been part of their history for generations — nearly 150 years! Hard work and consistency are values that have stayed with him throughout his life and are still a big part of who he is today.

At Midlands Living Center, Dale likes to stay on the move and enjoys doing as much for himself as possible. He’s not much for large groups, but you’ll often find him out walking, keeping up with the stock market, watching Fox News, or planning his next outing, whether that’s a baseball game or a trip to the casino.

Dale may come across as reserved at first, but those who know him best know he has an incredibly caring side and deeply appreciates the staff who help make his daily routine possible.

We are grateful to have Dale as part of the Midlands family and love getting to know the stories and experiences that make him who he is. 💙

As Memorial Day approaches, we’re reflecting on one of our most meaningful traditions at Midlands, our “Letter to Heaven” event.

Residents take time to write heartfelt letters to loved ones they’ve lost, sharing memories, love, and messages that continue to live on in their hearts.

Garden season is getting underway at Midlands, and we’re excited to watch it grow throughout the year!

Residents look forward to checking in on the garden often, seeing each stage of progress, and eventually enjoying the delicious produce it brings to the community.

The garden kick-off is coming soon, with long-term gardener, Jerry, helping lead the way as we plant and begin another growing season together.

At Midlands, gardening is more than fresh vegetables; it’s a connection, a purpose, and the simple joy of being outside in nature.

🌻WHACK-A-MOLE… NURSING HOME STYLE! 🦝

We transformed our courtyard into the ultimate game zone as residents enjoyed a larger-than-life game of Whack-A-Mole! 🎯☀️

This unforgettable activity was a true team effort:

🔨 Our incredible Maintenance Department built a custom oversized wooden game frame.

🧵 Our talented ADON sewed eight bedsheets together to create the giant game cover.

🌻 Staff members transformed into sunflowers and a variety of critters, popping their heads through the “mole holes” at lightning speed.

🏏 Armed with pool noodles and silly string, residents had an absolute blast whacking and spraying the sneaky moles.

😂 The result? Endless laughter, creative costumes, beautiful weather, and memories we won’t soon forget.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped build, sew, dress up, and bravely volunteer as our entertaining moles. Your creativity and enthusiasm made this activity a huge hit! 💛 👏 🎉

This week, we’re recognizing someone who has become a favorite among so many residents and families at Midlands Living Center — Mikaela 💙

Known for her uplifting attitude and compassionate care, Mikaela has a special way of connecting with residents and making them feel safe, supported, and valued. She approaches even the toughest situations with grace and patience, often turning difficult moments into opportunities for friendship and trust.

Whether she’s praying with residents, offering reassurance during hard days, or simply bringing a positive presence into the room, Mikaela consistently goes above and beyond to care for those around her.

Residents and family members frequently compliment her strong work ethic, kindness, and the comfort she brings to others. We are incredibly thankful for the heart she brings to Midlands each and every day.

Introducing “Sunkissed Seniors” at Midlands!

One of the best parts of community living is seeing resident ideas come to life, and this new weekly group started with a simple request from resident Janice, who enjoys spending time soaking up the morning sunshine with friends at Midlands.

Now, “Sunkissed Seniors” will gather weekly on our North Patio overlooking the resident garden for relaxing mornings filled with conversation, connection, and fresh air. Janice will help lead the group by choosing weekly discussion topics, trivia, music, and more, along with light snacks and our hydration cart to keep everyone refreshed.

We love creating opportunities for residents to connect, enjoy the outdoors, and build meaningful moments together. ☀️

Our Mother's Day flower bar celebration was a success! Despite unexpected challenges, including flooding repairs that reduced our seating capacity and our flower cart breaking in two different spots just minutes before the event, our team's dedication and unity came through, making every moment count. We're deeply grateful to our staff who tirelessly rallied together to ensure the event's seamless success, and we're thrilled to have been surprised by a special visit from our former Activities member, Donna (who of course jumped right in to lend a helping hand)! The event boasted an impressive lineup, featuring Joe Taylor's nostalgic performance of songs, a beautiful array of fresh flowers for bouquet-making, delicious sugar cookies, refreshing lemonade, and a delightful coffee truck! It's experiences like these that showcase MLC's unwavering spirit of togetherness, creating unforgettable memories for all. We're forever thankful to our wonderful residents, guests, and staff for making this occasion special!

💐 Midlands Living Center will be celebrating Mother’s Day today at 2:30 PM with a special afternoon dedicated to the wonderful mothers and mother figures in our community. 🌷

Our residents and guests will enjoy a flower bar where bouquets can be created together, live music from Joe Taylor, and sweet sugar cookies during the celebration.

We love creating meaningful moments like these that bring families, residents, and staff together while honoring the incredible women who have made such an impact on so many lives. 💕
