🎉 101 Years of Kitty! 🎉
Yesterday, we celebrated an extraordinary milestone, Kitty’s 101st birthday!
To mark the occasion, residents were invited to stop by Kitty’s room to wish her a happy birthday (and yes… enjoy one of 101 cupcakes made just for her!). Her door was decorated with big balloons and glitter — because Kitty loves the fancy things in life.
Kitty’s story is nothing short of remarkable. An only child who grew up on a farm, she remembers a time before plumbing and electricity, outdoor movies under the stars, and delivering newspapers as a young girl.
She married her high school sweetheart when he returned home from the war, later remarried, raised three children, and built a life rooted in hard work and independence. Over the years, Kitty worked at ALHS scheduling sporting events and in the business office, served the State of Iowa through Social Services and DHS, sold Avon, and even owned a turkey and chicken ranch, selling poultry both wholesale and retail.
Now a beloved part of the Midlands community, Kitty continues to shine with her signature style, warm smile, and gracious spirit. She’ll even be making a brief appearance on Good Morning America, reminding us all that life doesn’t stop being exciting at any age.
Happy 101st Birthday, Kitty 🎂 You are living proof that elegance, resilience, and joy only grow richer with time. We are so honored to celebrate!
