When I opened 5 years ago today I’ll be honest, I was terrified. Opening up a business in the middle of a pandemic felt like a crazy idea, especially knowing that other small businesses were having to close their doors. I had a constant fear of “… is this actually going to work?” Well, here we are.

Owning, let alone running, your own business is unlike any challenge I’ve ever faced. You got the ups and the downs and everything in between. You go home trying not to think about work when honestly it’s all I do 24/7. You have the good days and the maybe not-so-good days. I feel I’m in a constant overload of “what can I do better?” or “how else could I help this patient?” and the list goes on and on.

But with this challenge comes the highest sense of reward and fulfillment. There hasn’t been a day where I have second guessed what I’m doing as my profession. I love being a chiropractor and getting the chance to help others. It’s all I’ve ever wanted to do and I feel extremely grateful for the opportunity to do so, day in and day out.

Running a business takes a village and we all know the office would not be what it is today without the love and endless support from my family, my husband, friends, staff, patients and community. It’s what motivates me to be the best chiropractor I can be and continue to provide quality care to those who step foot in my office. My hope is that every patient always feels welcomed, heard and supported, regardless of the outcome.

As we continue on this journey, I want to thank all those, past or present, who have trusted me with their health. It’s been an honor to serve you.

And as I’ve said every year since the beginning, from the bottom of my heart for a fifth year in a row — thank you, thank you, THANK YOU 🫶🏼

✨ New Addition Alert ✨

Dr. Felicia is now Level 1 (of 3) certified in Dry Needling! Let's dive into it a bit more...

1. What is dry needling? It's the insertion of sterile, filiform needles directly into tight, painful parts of a muscle typically known as "trigger points." These trigger points can cause disruption in muscle function, restrict your range of motion, and cause pain or tenderness.

2. Is it similar to an injection? Dry needling only uses a thin needle. There is nothing injected or withdrawn, hence the term "dry."

3. Is it painful? Generally, it's not classified as painful but it can cause some discomfort. Some patients may experience a slight pinch upon insertion and then a deep pressure or cramp-like feeling when the trigger point is hit. Some may also experience a muscle twitch response, which is also normal but not painful.

4. What can I expect following a needling session and can I resume my normal activities? Patients may have anywhere from 4-48 hours of soreness from treatment, which is normal. The extent of the soreness can be limited by low to moderate activities, although there are some exceptions to the rule with regards to lower extremity needling and running. Ice, heat and light massage can also be utilized to help with pain and stiffness. In regards to activity, the best thing to follow up dry needling is exercise and/or use the affected region as tolerated.

5. How does acupuncture differ from dry needling? Acupuncture focuses on balancing the flow of energy or life force -- known as chi or qi. This qi is believed to flow through pathways in your body called meridians. By inserting needles into specific points along these pathways, it can help rebalance your energy, promote healing, and treat a wide variety of chronic and acute conditions. Dry needling focuses more on treating musculoskeletal and neuromuscular pain by releasing dysfunctional trigger points.
