Yesterday, across Pillars Community Health, our teams showed up in denim.

From our health centers to The Loft at Eight Corners, and alongside our partners at NAMI Metro Suburban, staff wore denim in support of survivors of sexual violence.

Denim Day is more than what we wear. It’s about what we stand for.

It’s about believing survivors.
It’s about creating spaces where people feel safe to seek care and support.
And it’s about showing, in visible ways, that no one has to navigate this alone.

We’re grateful for a team and community that continues to show up with compassion, awareness, and action.

Wear denim. Start conversations. Support survivors.

Tomorrow is Denim Day, a visible reminder that there is never an excuse for sexual violence.

At Pillars Community Health, we believe in creating a community where survivors are heard, supported, and believed. When you wear denim, you help challenge harmful myths and show that our community stands for respect, dignity, and safety.

Join us. Wear denim. Be part of the message.

Behind every conversation about domestic violence is a community of support working to make sure no one has to navigate it alone.

We’re proud to be part of that community.

If you missed it, Roz Romero, our Supervisor of Outreach and Prevention Programs, joined In the Loop with Sasha-Ann Simons on WBEZ alongside other advocates across the Chicagoland area to talk about the resources available for individuals and families experiencing abuse.

Together, this conversation highlights that support exists, across organizations, communities, and systems, for those who need it.

If this resonates with you, consider sharing to help more people know where to turn.

Organizations throughout the greater Chicago area offer a myriad of services, from support for survivors petitioning for an order of protection, to help navigating available shelter options.

Every day, someone in our community reaches out for help.

A call. A text. A moment where safety, support, and compassion matter most.

At Pillars Community Health, our Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault programs are there in those moments. From crisis support and safe shelter to medical care, legal advocacy, and long-term healing, this work is about helping people regain a sense of control, safety, and hope.

But this care doesn’t happen without support.

When you give, you are helping ensure that when someone reaches out, there is someone ready to answer.

Support our DVSA programs today. Because no one should have to navigate this alone.

Pillars Community Health is proud to share that Lanita Higgs-Jackson has been appointed as our President and CEO.

Her title may be new, but her leadership is not.

Lanita has been part of Pillars Community Health for more than seven years, most recently serving as Chief Financial Officer and Interim President and CEO. Over that time, she has helped strengthen our foundation, guide our strategy, and support the growth of services across our communities.

She brings nearly two decades of experience in finance and more than a decade of strategic leadership, along with a collaborative, community-driven approach that reflects who we are as an organization.

Lanita leads with thoughtfulness, accountability, and a deep commitment to the people we serve. She has built strong relationships across our teams and with partners throughout the region, and she understands both where we’ve been and where we’re going.

While this marks an important moment of transition, it also reflects continuity in our mission and in the work ahead.

We’re excited for what comes next.
Please join us in congratulating Lanita.

You make this work possible.

At Pillars Community Health, whole-person care happens because staff, volunteers, and supporters show up for people when it matters most.

Every role matters. Every hour matters.

We’re grateful for you and the community we’re building together.

Your baby’s first smile deserves care from the very beginning.

Infant dental visits are recommended by age one, or when the first tooth appears. These early visits help your child get comfortable, allow us to check for healthy development, and give you the guidance you need to care for their growing smile at home.

At Pillars Community Health, Dr. Lopez and our dental team create a calm, welcoming experience for even our smallest patients—because early care builds a strong foundation for lifelong health.

Ready to get started? Call 708-PILLARS to schedule your child’s first visit.
